I don't know about you guys, but I think that the S281-E supercharged absolutely rapes the GT500 in every category! Why even bother with the Ford version when a cheaper version with better capabilities is available?

Seems like everytime I fart, Ford is coming out with another version Mustang.

How many are there?

Lets see...

Mustang (base)
Mustang Pony (package)
Mustang GT
Mustang GT/CS
Mustang Saleen (whichever one)
Mustang GT350
Mustang GT500
Mustang GT-H
Mustang Shelby GT
Mustang Foose
Mustang GT500KR
Mustang Shelby SuperSnake
Mustang Mach 1
Mustang Bullitt ??

Did I miss any?

I keep seeing another version everyday and I'm always wondering how many have been released. I dunno, seems like they are spreading themselves a bit much.

its working well for them. keeps things fresh. gm should have tried it with the 4th gen camaro. keeps people buying a body style for a longer period of time. also lets them charge more for a little different body. dont think everyone wants to drive the same car.

Doesn't that car cost like 50k when the GT500 cost 42k(ignoring mark ups which are going down)..Also Im pretty sure the GT500 5.4L stockmotor can handle way more than the Saleen S/c motor so it means is better for mods...In handling I guess the saleen is better but the GT500 is still great in handling,it got 69.7mph slalom and .95g's skidpad.

I guess if you want handling go for the saleen but I prefer something different with a better engine like the GT500 5.4L than a Saleen built 4.6L Mustang GT engine but thats me.

yeah another bullits coming too...damn every mustang made is 1 of 4 made lol...don't forget the 427R Roush either...actually I don't see any Roushs listed.

they all look the same here, big chrome wheels with stupid offsets and body kits with stripes every where. people buy them up though, america is "rice" at heart.

ford always does that crap...with "just" a little tweak here and there your overpriced over hyped mustang will run way faster...is that a joke or what? you can run fast as **** with a Z06 AND not void your warranty. Just seems like if this Shelby crap is so bad *** it needs to come to the consumer that way and with warranty. Also a Z isn't way more than a Supersnake and is way less than a Ford GT 40.

I have nothing against mustangs but if GM did this **** to us I'd be bashing them as well. I bet that new ZR1 will be sick out of the box...what does ford expect they had a "supercar" (Ford GT) that couldn't beat a new Z06 so how do they expect a Shelby Stang to?

Haha no pissing contest here just all opinions in good fun man. At least we can be men and argue in a civil manner.

a) z06 is a lot more expensive, apples to oranges
b)shelby's all have warranties, unless you waive it on the SS and get like 125 more horsepower
c)ford gt and z06 is again apples to oranges

not starting a pissing match but your rant is a little misguided

You missed what my point was and that was probably due to my rambling...you don't have to do any thing to a stock Z06s tune to get great results, that's in reference to page one where it was mentioned how crappy the stock tune was on the Super Snake and how poorly it ran in stock tune form.

I'm saying start tuning your brand new mustang so it runs like adviretised and there goes that warranty.

A ford supercar isn't faster than a Z06 stock for stock in the quarter and I know that's apples for oranges but I made the comparison because if one of those isn't going to take the Z down I don't expect all the fords "Z06 killer" mustangs to do it either.

...ok....well....lets see, when the GT500 hit, everyone said it'd hit 11's as well bone stock....best to date truely bone stock was by Evan Smith, professional driver, and it was a 12.2X. The magazine tests all put the GT500 about 12.4-12.6, about where most decent drivers put it bone stock as well, some much worse being in the 13's. This one mag hits and makes a best pass of 12.5 with the SuperSnake and you get all butt-hurt..why? If the mag did a stone stock pass of 12.5, be sure the best you could wring out of it inthe same stock form is maybe a .1-.3 improvement, putting it well short of 11's stock. And, FWIW, drag radials, cold air intake, and a catback is nowhere near bone stock, so as for your 03 Cobra, maybe you need to know what you're talking about before you say for sure(drs can save up to .5 in the 1/4, cai good for maybe .1 more and catback maybe .1 more, but I'll combine the catback and cai for a total of .1 reduction...that means with the mods you list, you'd run approx 12.7's @113 if you were stock...I belive 12.8-12.9's were the advertised numbers for the 03, I'm sure someone will correct me, though,if I'm wrong).

ok that makes a little more sense. i guess thats just how they like to do things. a lot less warranty issues, easier on insurance though. i guess i personally dont care about stock. the beauty of cars is that you can make them into whatever you want. if i can buy a cheaper car that responds well to mods, im all for that and could really care less what it does stock because its not going to stay stock. just my .02, makes more sense now that you word it that way

every 100 pounds its about equal to 10hp so if the new z06 its got 505hp on 3000pounds the shelby with 605hp 3900pounds and a lot more torque from its blower should be able to keep up with the new z06 and even beat it.

That's true of SOME magazines.. Remember when Evan Smith (Muscle Mustangs) ran the 98Z to 12.98 ... the first guy to every get a stock Camaro into the 12s?

I say the Mustangs biggest problem is that it weighs way over 4,000 lbs by the time you put a driver and gas in it.

A C6 Z06 would kick it's *** all over the drag strip and even worse on the road course.
