Default BMW 135i twin turbo

Haven't seen a thread on this car yet. I'm looking real hard at it. 3300lbs, 300hp, six piston brakes, ect., for around 40k. The turbos are pretty small, but the powerband is like an n/a engine. That car is begging for bigger turbos. Guys at the 1 series forum are getting mid 300's at the wheels with bolt ons. What do yall think?

I dig it, I thought it was going to be lighter than 3300 lbs for some reason.

There have been threads about it when it came out.

I like it. But, like the 2010 M@RO a lot more

Modifications for newer M3s are expensive as ****.

I would assume it's no different for the 1 series BMWs either.

I'll have to wait and see on the new camaro. I like the quality of my GTO, and time will tell if the 'camaro is the usual GM rattle trap quality or not. I'm guessing it will be. Plus the main thing I don't like about my goat is the weight, and it looks like the new camaro will be a pig as well, and I'm waiting on the looks of it to grow on me. So far I'm not feeling it. The 135i looks pretty bad ***. But either one I would wait until the second model year comes out. Never will I buy a first year model of any car.

Doesn't sound like it's too expensive.

It's a new model so there isn't alot of parts out yet. A Riss downpipe costs $700 for about a 30rwhp gain. Same as headers for our cars. BMS dual cone intake $135. With an $800 Helix tuner you can be close to the 400/400 range. I don't know,as far as bolt ons it doesn't seem to be any more expensive.

i think that thing is pretty sweet. ive heard bolt ons do good for these cars but i didnt know how well until i saw this thread. BMW parts arent too expensive as long as you arent buying them from those huge tuning compamies, like active autowerke, hamann, etc. but then again, they are bigger and mroe well known so their parts may be of better quality, esp AA. they specialize in bimmers. do it cheap and risk or expensive and less risk. your choice. sweet car overall though

SIDE NOTE-i bet in a few years whens those drop in price well be seeing a whole lot of these. this is a car id actually be proud to call a "tuner" if i owned it.

id like to see one of them modded, i worked for bmw for a short time and those turbos are part of the manifolds, this engine would be very $$$ to mod and not easy to work on

I ran a 335 at the track about a year ago (about 200-300 lbs more). He ran mid 13s on the first run and mid 12s the second run. I assumed it was relatively stock on the first run and a tune (more boost) on the second. He suprised me in that he was so close the 2nd time. That turbo motor seems pretty nice.

I agree I have thought about getting one of these instead of the new "camaro."

The size and weight of this thing are very appealing to me.

The turbos are combined with each banks manifold. Very few people have gone as far as modifying them with bigger wheels. Bigger turbos aren't really doable at the moment.

Our own Terry Burger (former fbody guy) has gone 11.89 @ 114MPH last I knew. One of the faster 335i's around. This is with a FACTORY catback and secondary cats.

JB2HHR (Tune), UR Catless downpipes, intake, ~98 octane, Kosei K1 rims w/ ET Streets. Approx. 15PSI with his software.

These cars and the N54 engines are the ****.

Are the engines in the 335/135 pretty stout? It seems like 350-400 rwhp is fairly attainable without problems arising.

I've been hearing the motors in those cars after a few bolt on's is pretty much pushed to the limit.

I think if I could only have one car, and I didnt mind Gas prices, a bolt-ons/tuned 135i would be kinda neat. Nice looking, Good quality, fast enough to surprise a lot of people, and a great quality car. You dont lose a lot of MPG with bolt-ons on a turbo car as a rule, do you? mated to a 6-speed... this could be a lot of fun.

Also, I love the looks of BMW Wheel designs. Very unique, and always Badass. If I ever think about it, I wouldnt mind taking out the center section of some cool BMW wheels and throwing them on a car that isnt an F-body.
