Nah, they'll probably do some gears and maybe a higher stall with it as well possibly...could be pretty sweet.
And even if it's a lot of money to buy at first, just drive it/race it/show it/enjoy it for 35 years and then auction it off at Barrett-Jackson for half a million dollars.

 

Watch them go really retro and not offer warranty with the drag pac.

Thats pretty cool, too bad they wont do an option thats still street legal. Still nice tho, good for them. I want a stripped down option on the new camaro

 

From what I read this is just a rumor still.

 

The owner of an NHRA race team, a personal acquaintance, is in discussion with Chrysler for one or more of these cars. Eventually, they will be picked up (not delivered) in the form of an unfinished car. They will have no vin, no warranty, and while the engine will be included, the drive train is not complete. In other words, it's a pile of parts, not a car. There will be multiple engine combinations homologated so that the car can compete in multiple classes. Projected ETs will be comparable to current competition in NHRA Stock Classes AA/SA, A/SA, B/SA. To be competitive, in NHRA Stock Eliminator trim for AA/SA, the car will need to be capable of 9.80s or better. In A/SA it will need to run in the very low 10 second bracket. For comparison, that would be roughly equal to a top-drawer, fully prepped, NHRA-legal, 427 '69 Camaro, 427 '69 Corvette, or LS1 Firebird. Those cars are among the current leaders in those classes. I'd think that the Drag Pac Challengers won't have a problem competing.

 

If they throw in an option for primer only count me in 100%
