Here is a current scam that I found. The guy is using the name of a prominent Professor or Doctor to sound as if he can afford the vehicle and can afford the enormous loss on the sale. He is attempting to sell a 2009 cadillac cts-v for the price of $24,900 dollars. He will tell you that he has some travisty in his life, such as its either sell the house or the car. He will send pictures of the car with the plate blurred out. He will ask you to use google checkout or some other method to ensure that you have the funds for the car. He will never speak to you buy phone only send vague e-mails which become more brief with each response, because he knows you began to suspect a scam. If you say your local or you have flown to New Jersey, or Pennsylvania where the car is located he will then tell you he has temporarily located to the opposite end of the US, such as Seattle. He will give the vin # of the vehicle and claim he is the sole owner and even promise a car fax, which he will never send. These scammers are trying this with all sorts of vehicles, such as Cadillac's, Camery, and any other vehicle that is a hot seller.
Thankfully I have the ability to check such information and the tools to uncover a lot of this fraud, but I know word of mouth works even better. For every scammer caught there are two more to take his place.
Stay safe and never buy any vehicle site un-seen
