Default Airbox "modification"

So after trying to make my ram air idea work (flex tubing, 6 inch velocity funnel) and getting terrible results - it choked the motor, not enough air... I got "even" by cutting the entire bottom half off of the stock airbox.

I have to tell you guys, the engine hasnt ever sounded better. 3/4 throttle and above is just scary sounding. If you get bored, I seriously suggest you do it.

I know theres a lot of fear about loss of horsepower with hot air in the intake, but I have only seen gains over my previous K&N + stock air box + intake tube setup.

I didnt take any pics, but basically take a sawzall and cut the bottom out of the airbox along the bottoms of the triangular braces in the body along the outside all around. It still bolts in place (a little easier even) and with the K&N panel, it makes for an awesome sound coming through long tube headers.

Worst case, a replacement bottom section of the airbox retails for $108.92!!

I have the 4 inch aluminum intake tube and rubber 90 degree running into the stock (well ok, maybe not as stock now lol) airbox. I dont know the correct terminology for "larger intake tube with air filter panel"
