have alitttle engine knock from the driver side in the engine bay. seems to be a lifters or a valve prolem. it knocks in idol and as you accelerate. wondered if anyone had any ideas, or if someone went through this as well. any ideas would be appreciated thanx

You need to get a screw driver and stick it up to your ear and find out where the noise is coming from.

Injectors will make a clicking noise and that's normal, hopefully thats what it is. Also, you might have a lifter that is sticking.

Use the screw driver trick before you start to throw money at the car.

Knock or tick?

If its a lower knock grab your wallet.

If its an upper tick check your oil level. If oil level is good, drive it till it breaks.

x2 knock or tick.

If you have after market valve springs the inner one probably took a ****, or maybe over reved and a rocker arm slipped off.

This would probably cause a obvious misfire.

Capown, Dood, I love the negative flip on your pic.

ive got a similar sound. its annoying, but from researching it on here, it seems to be normal.

i did a cam swap about 3 weeks after i got the car. i didnt take the time to really take a good look at the pushrods. the stock cam i pulled is in perfect shape.

im going to pull the pushrods and make sure they are really true.
other than that, maybe pull the heads and swap the lifters.

if i dont find a bent PR, im just going to do what CORNER CARVER recommended....

ill let you know what i find after i check the PRs.

I was up against a wall at a drive thru yesterday at lunch and my LS6 sounded like the mechanical cam I had in my Z24.

But she still runs like a pillaged primate.

what is the screw driver test? i know its not a low knock it honestly sounds like a lifter problem. i do notice that there feels like a missfire, almost like a valve thats sticking but not as violent. i know the cts-v is known for it rough idol but is there any way to as least damped it? or could all the be a rocker arm that slipped? thanx guys

haha i hate the way it sounds when against a wall. just need enough bolt ons to hide it
