Default V vs. E39 M5 vs. 300SRT8

i want a big nasty V8 luxo rocket, and ive been lurking and reading up learning about all three.

i know some of you have or have had one of these three and id like to hear your thoughts. i do plan on light mods, headers, exhaust and a tune. more mods to the americans obviously, the german need constant TLC, i know this.

I'll presume the E39 M5 is the older body style, definitely out, as lags behind both V and the 'Taxi Cab' in looks and power. Regarding the V, this is a V Forum, expect bias response, the V does look better IMO, has more available aftermarket parts, but 300CSRT8425HP (damn long name) has its virtues, too. Drive both and you decide.

I can only speak for the new V and I'll take more torque and HP from the factory, easily "modable" to FAR more power. The BMUU gets stomped stock vs stock and it will never hold a candle to a modded V. Dollar for dollar it gets mashed.

I will second that, I am a V2 owner and it is the best car all around that I have ever owned or driven for that matter.

The E39 M5 is unreliable as hell. My brother-in-law had one that he bought new. He had tons of electrical problems which cost a fortune after the warranty expired. He finally sold the POS.

My V on the other hand has been trouble free not to mention faster. I would never even consider a used M5 over a used V. You will regret it if you buy an M5.

The 300C is the ghetto Bentley. Enough said.

300... is an automatic boat plain and simple. Try cornering in one of those.

Bimmer....have you ever worked on one? I've worked on my buddie's E45 3 times, and told him I'd never do it again. They are the biggest piece's of $hit to work on. Difficult, and I thought Caddy parts were expensive! Although they handle well, that square boring interior.....puke

Caddy....style comfort refined handles like a dream 400hp. Weak diff, yes...but that's the only thing bad about it. <- that can be driven around.

bimmers can be a pain, mines a 97 M3, and its very easy to work on, parts are dirt for it, and at 121k, its been very reliable....buts its a whole different beast than the M5, the M5 is a tender car.

so its getting down to the SRT vs. the V

I would say the V is the better buy of the 2 cars!!!! The SRT is a beautiful car and fun to drive and has lots of power but if you want performance on the twisties then go with the V

They are both great cars! But I purchased the V because "I" thought the V was just a little stronger the SRT... I would be happy with both cars in my stall but I havent won the lotto yet! I'll keep you posted when I do

I was only between V and SRT8. I ended up with the SRT8 mostly for the A5. Drive both and decide. I like the A5 more than anything for my wife/family to drive. What about a G8?

I do love my SRT8 300 though.
