Default Pinion support brace relieve stress or add stress to the rear diff?

Im just curious, cause I understand that the brace will help with wheel hop and help put power to the ground... Im sold on that.

But will it put more stress on the diff?

The pinion brace does nothing for wheel hop. Only reduces the clunk. It has also been directly attributed to differential case breakage.

that seems a bit odd, do you have a link to show that?

Do a search on the other forum. It was discussed thoroughly over there a while back.

when you say clunk, are you refering to the thump noise u get when you slam higher gears like 3 and 4th ?

Cause i noticed a bit of a delay .. But i think the stock shifter also has alot to do with it.

There is only one rear differential mounting point for the first gen CTS-V that really contributes to the "parade clunk". If you would like to replace this bushing with a polyurethane bushing contact Luke at Lindsay Cadillac from what I understand it almost completely removes the clunk.

one mounting point...lmfao! watch out for those hard right hand turns
or the entire cradle will slide right out from under you.
Excuse me, there are three mounting points where the differential mounts to the cradle. Only one is responsible for the notorious clunk or axle lash. The pinion support brace has nothing to do with reducing wheel hop unless it is hard mounted to the anti-wheelhop kit like with the original Kars III kit, and I will go ahead and find the threads over on the other forum describing how these parts attribute to differential case breakage. IIRC it had a lot to do with the fact that the brace held the front of the differential in place too much during wheelhop which made the front of the differential crack from the rear of the differential.

I'm sure every little bit helps though, and the only way to truely eliminate the problems with our differential is to replace the entire rear end assembly with something better like Madman's 9" or hopefully Hendrix's 8.8 assembly if it goes into production. Different people swear by different fixes from $17 washers to $8000 differential replacements and some people simply just try them all. Nothing takes away from the fact that GM just did a bad job with the rear end of our cars.

Single Differential mounting Point responsible for the notorious clunk (described by GM dealers as Axle Lash) where pinion brace attaches:

my diff bolt setup is different. I have two washers and a nut on the back side. I cannot get the damn bolt out. It sticks about 3" past the nut when tighted. Trying to install my Pinion support. I think i will have to have a shop tac the nut to the bracket so i can get the damn bolt out.

ya my bolt was wicked long too. I had to remove one of the two rear carrier bolts to let the side with the bushing drop. was a pain but was worth it.
