Tires!
Hey Peeps,
I know this has been a common thread in the past and I apologize in advance. I was looking at older threads and couldn't find that old info.
My first question... I am considering getting 255/40-R18 tires, will this size work? I believe I saw someone had put 265s in his car, but were they all the way around?
Second question. I wanted to get Pirelly P-Zero Nero M+S (http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/ref...ager.offset=10). What do you think or recommend?
I'm on a budget.
Thanks!
Adrian

i'm running P-275/40's out back, on stock rims with no issues.
avons if you're on a budget. but always remember, you're only as
good as the tires on your car. and watch out for retread scams.
if it's to good to be true, it usually is.

Awesome guys. Thanks!
I just saw Tirerack.com having BFGs G-Force KDW's for $185. I'm gonna try Discount Tire Co. tomorrow and see if I can talk them into matching that price. I had great luck with those tires....
I appreciate the info.

I'm on my third set of Falken Azenis Rt-615's. I've been very happy with them and their performance. They grip as well as the OEM GY F1SC's, and have WAY better wet traction, and a lot less moise, and cost half what the OEMs do. The only place they can't compare is turn in because they are not run flats. They are a lot better than GSD3's all the way around except wet traction.
Intially I went with a 245/275 split. With the last set I went 275/35's on all 4 corners, on stock rims. They fit fine. The only issue is that they are about .75" shorter than stock, thus there is a bit of a wheel well gap, unless you are lowered. I have 15k on this arrangement, and have had ZERO rubbing issues. The Falkens run a bit narrow, for a 275. (There would be no chance of a fat tire like GSD3's fitting like this).
They seem to have come up in price latey, but are still a great deal IMHO. Best price I saw was 220 each at vulcan tire. I used to always buy from Edge Racing, but it looks like they went out of business

275/40s NT05s here, and they do rub slightly, high speed turns, if you hit a bump. I hope to put coilovers on it with alot more spring rate and fix that. I have a 1/8" spacer too if I remember right.

Use this calculator:
http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp
The key is to stay as close as possible to the OE rim and tire diameter.
On the stockers, I have seen 275s, would not recommend this size for the front. Check out the most recent Car and Driver, they did a tire comparo, and the expensive ones did not do as well as thought. Read on:

"Although reasonably hushed according to the sound-level meter, the Azenis seemed very stiff, making them noisy over expansion joints and producing audible tire hum.
But this also allows for a precise, connected feel in the dry that makes these tires seem extremely sporty, which could provide an ego-boost benefit for slow drivers who have an elevated sense of their abilities."

I wish they would provide the data behind that article. I hate the editorializing they do in those things.
I've never had any issues with the RT-615's in the wet, even at the wear bars. Now the GY F1SC's is a whole different story. Those things were beyond scary. I'm not sure how they even let those things out the door, they were so bad in the rain.
