Default Polished the V (Black)

its kinda hard to get good pics of paint differences, especially at night. but i thought id post some up anyway.

the "go to" detailer in town quoted me 500 bones to polish it. and said it would take 2-3 days. im sure he would have done a much better job than i could do, but since its going to need to be maintained i figured id get the stuff to do it myself.

i spent about 35 bucks at harbor freight on a random orbital buffer and 6 terry cloth pads. i already had the mequires polish and wax. i used their #81 polish with a cut of 4, and their "yellow" wax.

before

after

V!!!

these kinda suck because i couldnt use the flash...

black cars look great but 500x harder to keep it looking good and clean then any other color. my SS was white and it always looked pretty clean plus you never had to dry it because you couldnt see water spots or swirl marks when you waxed it. Im just scared to buff a black car since i have never done it before.

Looking good! I polished mine about a month ago in an afternoon.

Then I did my wife's Altima, FYI don't do those. Apparently there is something different with the clear coat, it took my 9 hours just to polish & wax it! I've searched around and that's the norm for those cars. WTF?

Sweeeeeet!!! Trick is to keep the camera at a distance, as our Black Vs has endless swirl marks. As everyone said, black is a biotch, but the best when maintained.

my wife had a black 03 galant. i hated that car for many reasons, one was the color. i said id NEVER own a black car again.

but when you see a shinny black V...nothing else compares.

i was very nervous about taking a buffer to it too, since i didnt want to have that classic swirl marked black paint that is often seen. i figured if i messed it up, id have to fork over the cash to have a pro do it.

but the random orbital buffer is the way to go. i guess the buffers that are basically low rpm grinders with buffing pads are the ones that will swirl the crap outta the paint....

im happy with it. it looks a lot deeper and sparkles like crazy....

Looks good either way. I like both spoilers myself. The gm (or replica) looks a little more subtle but very nice! sometimes i wish i had both and could switch them out back and fourth for when i get bored of the look LOL

does that keep them shinny? ive used the armoral jel on my wifes tahoe and it works really well, but it builds up and looks grimy after a while.

those tires seem to soak up all tire treatments....they never stay blingin'

wow what tire shine will do for the car lol, brown tires on a black car dont match. I use meguiars tire gel with the applicator pad, they staty shiny for a few days even if it rains, and using the applicator pad eliminates the stuff from flinging off the tire while driving and shooting it down the side of the car.

X2 on the Meguiars tire gel, it's the best. Mine gets driven about twice a week & the gel lasts a good month. Just make sure to now put too much on or you'll be wiping it off the side of your car for a while.

The Armor All Tire Shine w/applicator is as good as the Meguiars. You can get it at Wal-Mart, which is always 10-20% cheaper on all cleaners and waxes than Pep Boys/Discount/Advance/Auto Zone, etc... A high-grade silicone dressing usually has the highest bling factor, but does not last as long. And as a rule, always scrub your tire walls with a brush and soap before application.

okay, im home now. the armorall stuff that i used on the wifes car is the Extreme tire shine gel.

it works good, but i just dont like how it builds up on the tire over time and looks like a shinny grime.
