Default HELP! Power steering...

Can someone tell me what went wrong here. Just jacked the car after having power steering problems. Pump was making a whining noise on the way home. Get into the garage... pop the hood. Res was dry. Put a bottle in, turned the wheel and a mess showed up. Jacked the car to find this....

This is the passenger side with wheels right...

Fluid is coming out of the end of the boot. There isnt a hole in the boot.
WHAT HAPPENED? And, What do i need to get replaced. Power steering is not my forte!

I'm guessing you'll have to replace/rebuild the rack.
I'm with you though, I don't have alot of knowledge with PS but I'm guessing a seal let go inside the rack.
I did a little search:

thanks man. If it is an inner seal, rebuilding is out of the question for me. I dont have the time. I am going to try and get a rack here to texas by monday tuesday and get a local shop to replace it. The rack itself is 410 after 220 core on rockauto.com. I have a feeling dealer will be 750+ labor.

NP man. I'm assuming no warranty left?
Have you called autozone/orielly/ABC/etc? They can usually get stuff next day if they carry it.

No luck anywhere around here. Dealer says 5-10 business days. I have an uncle in the NH area that can get dealer prices and says he has to order straight from manuf. How do i know which Rack i need. Here are the two listed:

I'd look for a part or reference number on the rack that's on the car.

There is two differences in the parts on that site. One states that it comes with inner tie rods and "w/special ride". What is the special ride option on our V's?
