So my cam will be here in the next week and I asked when having it built to spec my car for having high flow cats and no headers. I had planned on getting the Truebendz setup, but those guys are impossible to get a hold of. Based on your experiences, are the Random Tech cats with the 750 dollar price tag? I know a free flowing exhaust is huge on these cars, but 750 for cats seems retarded.

I know many will say just go the Long Tube route, but that is not an option currently because of noise and smog restrictions here in CA that I don't really want to deal with.

Opinions.......?

I will be pulling the trigger on a set this week myself. I do not want headers as my last 2 cars were retarded loud with them. A few guys on the other site have used them and gained approx 10 rwhp and increased the sound level but were not obnoxious. The cats are the most restrictive part of the exhaust on these cars. Sure you are losing 10-15 hp but the heat issues and possible leaks and sewing machine sound headers produce is not worth it to me on a Cadillac. I will be looking to pick up another f-body soon as a project car in the near future. I will save the ruckus for that.

I will tell you though if you ever plan on doing headers to skip the RT cats. I myself after having 2 cars with them know I will not be doing them so it is a no brainer for me. The car will be cammed before the summer is out but it will be a mild cam. only looking for around 390rwhp or so in this car. Either way it will be slow compared to my other cars. I did not buy it to be Ricky Racer anyway. Its a luxury cruising machine that happens to be "relatively" fast and handle great.

Thanks for the reply, you and I have similar goals with our V's. I wanted more power, but not at the expense of a brain rattling loud car. My cam is somewhat on the small side as well.

Do you mind sharing where you're getting your cats from? The cheapest I have found is 750 shipped from Stillen.

That is where I am getting mine from as well. I will be going with a medium sized cam with a wide lsa to keep it streetable. I had a 233/239 112lsa cam in my SS and that was just rowdy. Peoples jaws would drop at stoplights. I will prob be going with a 224/232 114 lsa which will give the cylinders time to clear with the factory manifolds.

This is the route i went as well, my cam (224/226 114) and springs already makes enough noise, I went random tech, but have yet to work on the tune since then, it is a nice sound, and today I did the muffler delete. not sure yet if I like the muffler delete or not, but i will give it some time.

Post a clip if you can. I already have the muffler delete done and would love to hear what it is going to sound like with the RT Cats. I have never heard or seen a vid of them on a car.

PS,I am a lifelong Bucs fan as well. McCoy fits the Tampa 2 perfect and I hope we can get Arrelious Benn and another good d-lineman as there are several still available like Kindle and Everson Griffen to take with 1 of our 2 2nd round picks

Out of curiosity, what's the CFM rate on these RT cats? I've never heard of a cat costing that much money, so I'm just wondering how much better they flow than, say, a 400 CFM spun metallic core'd cat...

I just put on Kooks 1 7/8 with there high flow catted connector pipes along with the factory resonator and muffler delete and it is awesome sounding. Willing to say almost the exact same sound as just the muffler delete untill you hit 3500-6k. Ill post a vid later today.

I was able to get in touch with the guys at Truebendz.....I should have my high flow setup by end of next week. I will do a report on fitment as soon as I get them installed.

275 shipped, and he said it was a catco he believes that was rated to flow around 400cfm. I figured for the price it's worth a shot for a direct bolt in kit.

Hmm... so the cats are the most restrictive part? I was thinking id just keep my cats to pass emissions but eliminate my mag muffs to make it louder. Sounds like id be better off cutting the cats and getting the o2's tuned out...

I got my cats from TrueBendz in today. I must say I'm very impressed with the quality of them. The true test will be the fitment, and I hope to install them tomorrow. I am going to hit the dyno in a couple of weeks to see if they make any additional power, but for the price it was worth a shot.

They look good. I got my RT cats installed last week and there was a big SOTP difference. MPG's went up as well. The sound with the muffler delete is incredible too. I know these flow 100 cfm less than the RT's but you should still see a noticeable difference.

well I got the cats installed, I am blown away how great the fitment was. It was though they were factory. The only small issue was placement of the driver side 02 sensor, it's kind of a pain but very minimal. I noticed a bit of sound difference (for the better), and a seat of the pants difference at higher RPM. I am hitting the dyno this weekend and will post results. For the money I am very pleased with the quality and fitment, and would definitely reccomend TruBendz in the future.
