Hwy I could get 25 mpg. City was about 17-19 and that was driving with spirit.

My M5 gets 20 hwy with a very light foot. And somewhere between 6-9 city. Lol

I'm around 18 city and 24 highway, with very spirited driving. I could get 19/25 if I tried, but driving is to fun for that so I enjoy myself. I do about 60/40 city to highway.

My CTS-V provides 5.7L of LS6 fuel efficiency! This is combined highway and city. Skip shifting and very moderate throttle. If its just city driving I can manage 19-20 mpg if I don't drive hard.

yes you are...

gearing, TB, and drag

final drive in the GTO is 3.42, and it is 3.73 in the V. and i believe that the GTO has a different TB then the V. the LS2 that is in the GTO is also different from the V, if my reading hasnt or my dad hasnt lied to me. the LS2 that the 05-06 GTO ran has the Holden variation of the LS2 called the L76. the big difference in the 2 is the TB, LS2 has 90MM and L76 has a 78MM. i could be wrong about that, so if i am my bad. also, since the goat is lower slung and i believe is has a lower drag coeffient then the V.

EDIT: My bad, G8 uses the L76. but i still think the GTO has a smaller TB.

I think it's mostly gearing and the extra 250lbs. At 80 i'm at 2k rpms compared to the goat which is probably around 1700. Aero has some to do with it too, to lazy to actually look up the drag coefficients but I'm betting the goat's is much better than the boxy V.

Edit: Found it, 04 GTO= .31 04 CTS-V= .36

3.46* rear.

And i believe it would be the drag if anything and the weight a bit because im at 2k rpms at 70mph in 6th gear, the trans is an MN12 with a 3.46 rear.

Heres a pic of me at 59mph in 6th gear at 1500rpms or so. My gears are a lot shorter then an F bodies.

Even with the big motor, I get pretty close to that if I stay out of it. It pays to have a good tuner (edcmat-l1).

Around town-short trips falls to about 13-14 with a few hard trips through the gears.

I get about 14-16 on average with only K&N CAI, Magnaflow CB and Tune. Drive it like you stole it... If you get 20+ MPG please sell your car.
