Default weight reduction questions with everyday drivability?

What are some thinks that I could scrap from the car and maintain close to normal comfert? I don't give a **** about the nav/radio and would pull it if I get a cool replacement but I live in Texas so ripping out the AC is out of the question.. I have nooo idea what I could do but want to see if its possible to pull 100 to 200lbs from the car.. is it possible and would I even see any difference in performance such as trap speed or top end or would our gearing prevent a higher top end?

lighter rims, pull the jack/spare (if the v has one), lightweight flywheel, and maybe a lighter exhaust?

Sooo....

Lighter rims
Lightweight flywheel
??Lighter exhaust??

What about the trunk tub? I'm sure I could have a welder take a few inches off of the trunk tub and reweld it to save some weight but not sure that it would really justify getting it done if it only shaved off 10 or 15lbs...

Also anyone have any idea of how much weight I could save if I pulled the CD navigation? I will have to see if its also a part of the AC as I will not even mess with it if it is...

Any ideas from anyone of how much weight all this would save?

-Wheels(3k+ to lose 3-4 lbs a wheel)
-Trunk tub is plastic and weighs about 10 lbs tops, it pulls right out.
- I ditched my stock mufflers and welded in tips so about 25lbs there, plus i have long tubes so another 10 lbs less then the manifolds and cats.
-Lightweight flywheel would be a good chunk of weight about 30lbs but youll also need a retune to maintain stock driveability.
Other then that your about screwed IMO.
Your not gonna lose any weight with an aftermarket head unit.

My biggest weight loss out of the V would to be to take my 6'5" 290 lb *** on a diet and lose 50 lbs haha.

I agree, no point in ruining the whole poibnt of the car just to drop some weight. We have to compensate with power adders haha.

So with all that its about 72 to 74lbs? Sounds right.. not sure what else we could do without sacrificing drivability..

for temp, 1/4 mi track use pull the front passenger seat and rear seats
I bet that's 200lbs..
.....then you need to reinstall for passengers....

stock mufflers are heavy...10+ lbs each easy...
replacement mufflers much lighter...

NAV/Radio doesn way that much, head unit about 10lbs

spectre werkes makes CF hood, front fenders, rear deck, rockers... but that stuff is big dolla!!! and they make CF doors, but only use for track!... ditch stock seats for aftermarket Recaros or something and make a Schroth harness work... but thats all big dolla stuff too man!

Like everyone already said, not to easy and really not worth the effort unless you run for cash on the street/track. Then look into the cf body panels and swapping out the front seats and probably just removing the rears, or keeping them if you wanna keep the weight loss a secret. Add a hidden nitrous kit, much more cost effective and just hide the bottle in the spare tire compartment.

some of this might not work on the v but..

1) loose all the cats and mufflers
2)any spare or tools for a spare
3) those horrid front seats are about 100lbs each if i recall
4) get a rear seat delete
5) gut the trunk
6) no fogs or wiring for the fogs
7) no sunroof
8) lighter wheels, tires, brakes, pads
9) smaller lighter steering wheel
10) taking out the systems which deal with what you dont use ( ie onstar, sat radio, etc if you dont use them)

these are a bit more extreme
11) loose the door covers ( interior)
12) hood and trunk supports
13) tar, sound insulation under the carpeting
14) head liner
15) bumper supports
16) etc

there are more but im sure you can save a good amount of weight by doing those.

ya lighter flywheel, lose the resonators or go with smaller mufflers, trunk carpet, and lightweight battery.
do v's have spare/jack?

if so i bet theres atleast 100lbs right there in weight loss i just mentioned that wouldnt affect ur dd ability

and if u go to the track or are serious about street racing lol just take out the back seats with the back seat bars that was 120lbs on my car (i know different car) and even on my cobalt it was 40-50lbs

no spare tire or jack came with the V, back seat weighs abotu a total of 30-35 lbs top and bottom total.

100 lbs isnt gonna make you feel much if any faster on a stock car i guarantee it.
