Default Need advice. GERNADED DIFFERENTIAL!

Let my buddy use my car, he calls me 15 minutes later telling me he blew something up. It's my diff. Soooo he said he's paying for it.

What's my options for a new diff? 06-07? Or what? Can I buy a 06-07 and swap my 3.73's in?

Thanks for the help!

They all have 3.73's in them. The 06-07 is a direct replacement. I think a diff is around $800 from GM.

No viper IRS conversion or solid steel diffs guys! Lol

I mean like 06-07 or 08-09 or the V6 diffs with my 3.73's.....

I like the way y'all think though!!! Haha

damn your actually gonna stick him with the whole bill, i never let anyone drive the car and im always under the impression that its partly my responsibility for whatever happens to the car. Especially since the rears are such problems with the car and have grenaded under normal driving conditions not just from beating on it.

Id get the Gen 4 diff from and some sort of anti hop axles.

Well. Before he left I said be easy on the rear end. If it hops get out of it. And he blew me off like I didn't know what I was talking about... So.... I might help him some but well see. I'll be doing a CS bushing, DS coupler and Gforce axels while it's apart....

A new diff is approximately $1500-$1600 from GM (it comes with the casing and brand new internal 3.73 gears).

I have a center section for sale $600 bucks. It has LESS than 1000 miles on it. It is from an STS v. The gears inside still look brand new with 0 wear.

He was either SLAMMING gears or he dumped the clutch. No doubt! 73k here and still orig. Diff. I don't baby her either. But I don't power shift 1-2 and I feather out 1st when on it.

Gen 4 rear is the only way to go. You can get them for around 1500 or so. Call your local dealer and see what they are locally before you pay the ~$300 in shipping.

That really sucks man and that was a shitty thing for that douche to do. Treat others and their property how you wish yours to be treated. Number one f#*king rule. A right hook that followed a left jab wouldn't have been unnecessary either!

This wouldnt be the first time a diff has gone under normal driving BTW. It has happened to people driving down the interstate in 6th gear.

Chances are he was beating on it, i dont know your friend so youd know better then me. Id hate to be the one to pay if it wasnt my fault and i was in the car the time it decided to go.

I've heard of diff falling apart on a 3-4 shift with a stock engine.

The new diff with hendrix axles is the way to go. Trust me, the new diff is stout, I should know. lol
