Default What, if any, gains are seen by a Corsa exhaust and/or CAI

Hey guys. As you may know, I'm in the market for a 06-07 CTS-V, and the first and only* things I plan to do are a Corsa catback and some sort of CAI. I have been told that that the CTS-V was aparrently blessed with great stuff out of the factory, and that these mods may actually lose power . From the bit of searching I have done, it seems plausible, maybe even true. I will still probably do the Corsa because I love the sound (had one on the Camaro for a while), but now I don't know about the CAI.

So, the question is, has anyone dyno'd a Corsa system and nothing else? Same question for a CAI, either as it came or cobbled together. Or just the two, with or without a tune?

Much appreciated,
Adam

i believe most of us with the LS2 will see minimal gains from those mods. maybe 10 to 15 hp at the wheels. if you want to save some $$, go with a magnaflow cat back, 400 bucks on average less then Corsa and it sounds amazing. if fact there is one website out there (www.wundercarparts.com) that you can get it for 666 shipped. only thing is magnaflow never came out with a cat back just for the LS2 Vs. so you will have to get the LS6 one. but it bolts right up according to magnaflow. i emailed them about it, and they said they never put the other one into production because it would be "identical" to the LS6 version.

I have a Corsa and CAI.
I have been wanting to get my car dyno and tuned but I was going to wait till I get header.

How much does it cost to dyno a car (no tune)?

I think I read in another thread that it was $100. I know I've been to a "dyno day" and it was $50 for three pulls. Kind of a advertising/awareness promotion for the shop. I'll see if I can pull up that thread, it was in here with the Caddys somewhere.

EDIT: Here it is, $100 at LMR in Houston.

Most charge 75 for 3 pulls with a wideband. Because a lot of people rent the dynos to tune themselves and its usually 75 an hr.

With a tune youd see 8-10 from a cold ait intake.

Hmmm...........looks like he got 10hp and 9lbft from the CAI and flowmasters. I doubt the flowmasters did anything though.

The catback really won't get you any power, until you get into some of the heavy modding when it will start to restrict you.

After getting the CAI and catback installed my MPG went up by 3 MPG.

I'm going to call around town and see how much a dyno tune cost.

I was thinking about going to Advanced Racing Dynamics for a tune.

In this region, $400-500 is generally the rate for a tune (dyno w/wideband). Cammed up cars tend towards the higher end of the scale.

The version I've heard is: Women.....if it wasn't for the *****, there would be a bounty on them.

I suggest looking through this thread from the Texas section before going to them....................................

Hennessey has (or at least had the last time I checked) a pretty bad reputation on the internet as well. Remember all of the "Hennescrewed" pictures/motovational posters that were floating around? I haven't heard anything, good or bad, about them for a while though, so they might have cleaned up their act.

I'd look at G-force or LMR. Both are here in Houston, and both seem to have stellar records. Hell, why not drive over to PatrickG? I think he's about an hour and a half away. If it's not him, it's another super well respected tuner here on the forum.

American Racing Tech cost $350 but Brian does not work there anymore.
