I've been lookin around for either a Sy/Ty or a c6 z06. I found this typhoon that's pretty clean.

This isn't going to be your only vehicle right? I love SyTy's, and will own one again once it can be my second car.
Weak points:
-Trans, notoriously bad, and really can't be built to handle there launches. 98% of shops will not warranty a trans build on a SyTy and the other 2% aren't familiar with the trucks. The stock 700r4's are rated at 350trq, with a homemade intake and chip (only running 18lbs) i put down 309/454 to all four wheels. GM lowered the trq rating on the trucks because they knew the trans was only rated at 350. Only good option is 6k for a 4l80 swap, to rebuild the stock 700r4 is 3k. There is a stock turbo truck running a 4l80 in the 11's (drove the truck 100 miles to the track, ran all night, then drove home).
-Old, the trucks are old so some of the SyTy specific stuff is getting pricey since it's becoming hard to find. You have to realize these trucks are 20 years old and they only made 3000 Sy's and 4200 Ty's.
-Ty's have a rear window squeak, it's annoying but can be fixed.
-Probably more but I can't think of them right now.
Good:
-AWD launch can't be touched by anyone. ANYONE! I would leave on 12lbs of boost and could cut 1.7's on cheap 245's. There is nothing else like them on the street. Can't think of a better vehicle for a stoplight race.
-Still a Sonoma/Jimmy so most parts are cheap.
-Don't draw attention, they blend in pretty well except to the few that know what they are. Cops ignore them for the most part too. But I've had guys come running out of bars because they saw my Ty driving by.
-Awesome community, I really like the syty community, a ton of helpful people.
-Everything has been done for the most part, so guys can tell you what works and what doesn't work.

On another note, i did see a syclone that sounded stock absolutely destroy a vette from a stoplight race. I mean the syclone was already through the intersection before the damn vette even started moving it was probably the most insane thing ive ever seen.

That's why it's going to be my weekend toy when I can afford it.

It won't be my daily driver if I decide to get one. I like the syclones better myself but I can't seem to find an affordable low mileage one. Plus, I've never owned an automatic and don't know if I could ever own one.

You can't beat the launch on the street w/ street tires, and built they really take off!
Otherwise - maintenance, maintenance, maintenance... You'll always be tuning it up w/ cap/rotor/plugs. Although a good set of wires seemed to last. Never had any electrical problems with mine.
Bought my Syclone new back in '92 as a leftover. Did the bolt-on thing until I was running 12.00's and popped #1 piston. Then got the engine/trans built by McCoy Motorsports in Kentucky (with a couple of gliches, but they fixed them on their dime). Truck was a real monster then. I could launch the truck at 13+psi and smoke all 4 into 2nd gear, or leave at 5psi and pull 1.7 60's. 20psi got me a 10.85 @ 126 the only time I really ran it, and that was into a headwind with a mediocre launch. It was built to handle 28+psi, but I never ran it harder than 20. Sold the truck w/ 13,xxx miles to a guy in Texas back in 2005.
I definitely miss that truck, but I don't miss the constant attention it required. Besides, my Viper is kinda fun to drive too, and while it doesn't launch as hard, it actually pulls harder on the top end than the built Sy.

Post up on SyTy.net and someone local will take a look at it for you. Never buy one of these trucks without someone looking at it. I know there are a few Indiana members on there. It looks pretty good except for those awful wheels, but he said he has the stockers still. Even if he didn't I actually have a set of stock wheels in my shed.

I was running C5 wagon wheels that I painted myself and it looked awesome, especially since you can find those wagon's for about 250 shipped for all 4. I was running 245's in front and 275's out back.
