Oh, it's only the 400 hp one
I've been getting a lot of people at work asking me about the V lately and I'm happy to talk about it...The funny thing is it seems they are always let down or something that it's "only" the 400 hp one, lol.
Anyway, doesn't matter to me, but thought that was funny and is that a common experience for you guys as well?
PS - the other morning, I wonder if the AMG CLS63 thought it was the new one or the "only 400 hp" one. I hope he knew it was the slower one, as it was a dead even match 0-70 or so when I let off. Lucky for him it wasn't the new one

LOL, yeah no doubt (re: blower)...Merc drivers can be real pompous here, although met a couple that were OK...the 'race' I had was a random event on the way to work and didn't talk to the guy or anything; just curious what he thought it was (cause he seemed to go out of his way to run).
Problem is, the people that react that way ("only 400 hp") will get lost quicker in the thought that you can actually increase an engine's output and especially so with something like our LS engines, in that you can get a crapload of power increase, "relatively" easily (esp adding forced induction)...
I let it go, but have notice this trend more and more and thinking cause people only go off what they hear about on TV, etc., so to speak...
It's almost like at first they say wow what a nice car, then after hearing it, like it's a V6 base model or something, ha ha...It really doesn't bother me and I have nothing to prove, but just funny witnessing that (heard about this before with other cars/models)...

Mine's basically stock, except for I put a cone filter and already had flowmaster mufflers. Otherwise, I just try to keep it in top condition with respect to maintenance items and such...Plus, driving it just right/shifting as "I wasn't gonna let that guy get away" moment, ha ha...It was a dead match and surprised me, as I thought he'd gotten me better. Why you can't magazine race as there are too many variables in an actual 'race'.
[Edit - LOL, yeah I wish I could put a blower on there....whipple and all, mmm] Who knows, if I keep this long enough, I just may do that...for the principle and all ya know

Haha, I did mention that I don't like how it got so bloated and the cheap plastic chrome. I mean, something like my Chevelle that had real chrome is OK on the bumpers, but not that plastic crap, bleh...
Nothing against the new ones, as they are beautiful in their own rite, but if only it had gone on a trimming, it would've then been like "wow" (for me). I like the new ones in some ways, but prefer these in others...Nice thing is we can build to suit and that what a true hot rod is all about.
Besides, I try to let them know it's just my DD anyhow and I'm not trying to do anything other than enjoy an all around nice car that happens to be a cadillac...

Most people that I talk to that suddenly get dissapointed with the horsepower on the V1 can barely put down 200whp on whatever they're putting around with. Its all a numbers game. Just tell them its your daily/winter beater and move on haha.
It just goes to show that proper marketing works. The V1s were pretty much invisible to the general public but everyone knows about the V2s. Now they might not be able to tell the difference right off the bat between the V1 and V2 (I guess our cars haven't aged too bad lol) but they at least know the V Series exists.

And the damned edges and things look so sharp you could get cut on them!
The V1's definitely a better choice in body style, IMO.
