Default P0430

scanner says catalyst system efficiency below threshold Bank 2

I'm guessing my cat is going out?

This is my second one within 10k miles. Not the same one but my drivers side cat went out and now this one. Thank god for GMPP.

Could my cutouts be making these things go bad? My car only has 37k on it. The cutouts are right after the cat's.

Unburnt fuel is usually what makes them go bad prematurely. Any reason you might be running rich?

You might get something on ebay. I know scrap guys like them too since they have platinum in them.

It could be a bad reading from the o2 sensor, also.

You'd probably make more money selling it as a bolt in piece for replacements.

One other thing is be careful with these heavy mods and your GMPP. Depending on the dealer, they won't cover basic things if the car is heavily modded.

Ya, the dealership initially denied my warranty claims because of modifications. I had to fight with them to get things covered unrelated to the mods that were done.

i got this code on my evo after installing a turbo back exhaust with a high flow cat. the fix was to add a spacer to where the o2 sensor threads in. I used this how to,

http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-how...ouler-how.html

It might work for you. Once I had the spacer in, the code never came back. It keeps the o2 sensor cleaner

Swap your 02 sensors maybe... See if the problem is still on the same bank..

Does anyone know if the little hand held tuner OBDII (Can't remember the name right now) can tune out the O2s?

That's funny...... That's who I use, and the guy that I go to everytime seems to just cover anything. I've never had a problem there, wierd

Wcryan, the o2 sensor should absolutely be covered by gmpp.
