Sun roof broken?? :(

Which arm? I can't remember now, but an arm on mine snapped once. Luckily I was able to close it, and I was under warranty. They had to replace the whole damn thing for that one arm. If I wasn't under warrant I probably would have left it shut forever.
Post a pic of the broken part..

Mine was broken when I bought it. I tried to straight epoxy it, but it's pretty difficult to splint. It remains unfixed and I usually just pop the back up instead of fully opening it. If I really want to open it I just have to hold the arm down while it's shutting so it doesn't jam.

Not sure about the air diffuser thing (assuming you mean that thing that pops up when it opens, to keep it from buffeting? (if you ever drive without it, you'll appreciate how well it works!)
If it's like mine, where the plastic bracket (for the glass) broke that tilts it up and also helps pull it back on that side, you'll have to replace the whole frame...You can get one brand new for ~$200 if you shop around, if that's what you need...Otherwise, that wind deflector may be a separate assembly/part and probably won't be too $$$...Been awhile since I looked to see how it works and where it's attached though, so if you can look at it next time and you can tell how it's attached and if it belongs to the main frame.
anyway, do not even think about having the dealer replace your frame...they quoted me $1,420!!! lol, yeah right. That's just for the frame and not the motor, glass, etc...It is a lot of labor, but come on, $1100+ (list is $284 for frame) for the labor?!?
I need to just order the part and pull down the headliner and fix this...Been 10 months now since I haven't been able to open the sunroof I tried repairing it myself, but since the assembly is all riveted, you can't just pull out the pin (that it pivots on)...I was going to just make an aluminum replacement or something, but without being able to pull the pin to put that bracket in and then putting the pin back in, that won't work...I'm sure if you pulled the frame it may be doable and/or if you planned to drill out the rivets, but the frame itself isn't enough $$ to justify the risk of it not being able to be fixed properly (going thru all the BS to get to it off)...And as I mentioned above, the car is pretty much undriveable without being able to use that diffuser thing, as the mirror wants to break off, ha ha and the noise...that is around town, couldn't imagine on the freeway!

This is the part that broke on mine. It's made of aluminum and its riveted in. So I had to drill the rivets out to remove it. I'm getting it welded this week. I can't live without my sunroof. Easy fix if u have someone that welds aluminum. :-)

Now that the weather is getting warm, I'm looking at my sunroof again.
Stageup, this is the same part that is broken on my drivers side also.
Did you get it welded and placed back in the sunroof successfully? Were there any problems?

1st congrats on the purchase and welcome!
2nd Bravo for having searching skills. You and I will get along great!
3rd check the classified section for a couple cars that have been being parted out. Other than that it will probably
Be a dealer part.
Good luck!

Hadn't seen any V-specific stuff in the classifieds recently but I didn't dig that hard; usually for general stuff if it's on the second page it is sold but car partouts probably languish a bit. Will check.
Thanks!
