Default Was this your first mod to your V1?

[IMG][/IMG]

Well I have not formally introduced myself to the V forum yet (althought I have been posting here and there) so whats Happening?! Name is Nik, and I just got a smokin deal on an 05 V with 80k for 11,500. Always wanted one since I sold my C5, as the V is a more "practical" replacement. Or so everyone seems to think.

Figured out would start out with supporting mods first, and I did not want to be one of those people stuck at the track with a broke V. Also having to be put on the spot of either dump a bunch of money a.s.a.p. to upgrade, or waste the money on buying a stock replacement.

Anyway, found this bad boy at a local junk yard in a 94 Mark VIII. About two hours with a hammer, pry bar, vise grips, crescent wrench, 1/2" wrench, and a 7/8" wrench, and costing some skin, patience, and 78$ I now have the first piece of the puzzle. Hoping to have it done and installed by May.

Oh, and big shout out to Max at creative steel he is a real helpful guy. And I cannot wait to buy all those beautiful parts off of him to make this fit.

My first mod was a PA15-VETTE. High quality music is a must.

If you had to start out with one mechanical mod, I'd pick any of the following three, arranged from easiest to hardest:

1. Hotchkis sway bars (< 1 hour)
2. Ground Control coilover Kit (< 6 hours)
3. LS7 clutch with lightweight flywheel and short shifter (one entire weekend, morning 'til night)

I had the ls7 in my C5 w/fidanza 13lbs fw, but I plan on going past what the ls7 can handle. Also, the market for ls1/6 clutches is much greater than what is available/compatible with the ls2/7 flywheel.

The Hotchkis are a def coming soon. Had those on the vette also, and they were hands down the best investment I put on that car. As far as lowring goes I'm still on the fence.

My first mod was the creative steel diff, trans, and shifter bushings. And some Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
Congrats on the killer deal. I picked up my 05 V last year for 12.9k with 95k miles.
Lets see some pics of your V!

First mod was CAGS delete, then a UUC Shifter and bushings.

OP nice find for the price on that diff unit. Since you got the housing so cheap are you going to put some top notch stuff inside, maybe wavetrac 35 spline and good street gears?

I tuned it day 1.
Next big one was engine and dif mounts.
Cam/long tubes right after.
Clutch sitting in the garage waiting for a free day.
Now trying to figure out what to do next.

I had part waiting before I even had the V delivered. First day I got it I installed, Hendrix race axles, poly diff bushing, pinion brace, sway bars, z06 endlinks, lowering springs, skip shift, UUc shifter, and had x-pipe and borla mufflers waiting to get welded on. Oh ya and I had a specter works hood, from my other donor cts.

#1. K&N, Kooks, Magnaflow, Plugs, Wires, Shifter, Bushings, Motor Mounts, axles, and Tune.
#2. H&Rs
#3. Clutch
#4. Rotors
#5. Volant (since the K&N can suck a fat one)

Various non preformance mods mixed in there, and I am done modding my car...haha.

First mod was a K&N CAI. Next up: ported FAST 102, Kooks headers, and a tune.

Welcome, Nik!
