Bass tubes?
I went to look at some options at a local audio install place. After speaking to the guy he suggested going with a bass tube install instead of going with a free air sub. He said unless you spend top dollar on high quality free air subs they are less then stellar. I did not want to go with a box seeing as I wanted the space for golf clubs and things like that. He suggest taking out the stock subwoofer and installing a bass tube to the deck keeping it up and off the floor retaining my space and getting much more bump out of it vs a free air setup.
Has anyone done this? What do you guys think about it? Yay or Nay.

never been a fan of bazookas. I had an infiniti basslink in my jeep that worked great and gave it some nice thump but not obnoxious.
in the v i have a 10" kicker in the factory location powered by a small alpine amp.

Lolly install and report haha
Bud bass isnt directional so you wouldnt need to put the tube up into the hole on the deck. Just mount the tube sideways underneath the deck and pull the stock sub out i would think would produce some good bump not an insane amount but enough to compliment the stock speakers.
This seems like it may be a decent way to go for real cheap to help out the stock system without going overboard or breaking the bank.

oh ok wasnt sure as when i was first talking about it i thought they would directionally port it into the hole the existing sub and after talking about it i realized that wasn't their plan.
I will look into that JL stealth box too but yea a tube has a built in amplifier.

kind of a dumb question...i've had 12s and 15s in my old car before obviously in the box, however i was wondering if it would be an improvement to mount something like a jl w7 10" or something in the stock location with no box???Guess just confused on how the stock sub is in there obviously with no box.

Va Mike I will look into the basslink
KL the issue with that is that the JL is not a free air sub. Free air subs can create the "bump" without needed to be in an enclosure. However they never produce the same kind of sound quality that a sub with a box in the correct size can do.
