4 or 3.5in homemade CAI
Buying pieces for a homemade intake tube and wondering if there is any need for a 4in tube or is 3.5 enough ? The AFM exit measures 3.5 but I am not into fluid dynamics and if the bent to the TB affects flow.
What say you ?

3.5=88.9mm 4=101.6 stock maf =85mm=3.35
I plan on running the 3.5 for two reasons. I will have a fast 90/90 setup so the 3.5 will technically be restrictive, but still less restrictive than the 85 mm maf. Then, a 4" pipe will have some fitment issues running off a 90 elbow from TB to airbox where as the 3.5 might have issues, but they will be a half of an inch less of an issue.

3.5" is easier than 4.0". Both tubes are larger than your MAF, so unless you plan on upgrading to a PowrMAF, I think you're fine with 3.5" parts. This is my 4-ply silicon intake tube:

Thanks, but it isn't a trash can. It's the Lingenfelter airbox, which looks an awful lot like the trash can mod until you get up close. The key differences are thicker walls, inlet airflow routing, and a better, rubber gasketed seal along the bottom edges.

To be fair, I think you should ask Lingenfelter, not me. The package is pretty effing expensive...for $240, you only get the airbox, gaskets, clamps, and filter.

Got it all in today and I must say it pulls like crazy now. Must have picked up a ton of HP....
J/K It feels the same
Total price was $72.00. I added the aquamist jet adapter since it was apart while I finish laying out the WI plan.
While I was there I bypassed the coolant line going into the TB but now I have a little concern on the line rubbing on a pulley.
