Thumbs down Stereo crackling/static/disturbance 2004

Today I get in the car, music starts playing and its got this awful static crackling that comes in and out of all the speakers.
It does it weather its on the radio, playing a cd or dvd.

Reminds of listening to a radio station and losing reception. Its very loud and noticeable.

Anyone had this issue before?
Fixes?

My favorite part and main reason I wanted the car and now its gone all to **** lol

The stereo is really tour favorite part of the car? I hope that is sarcasm. Anyways it sounds like you might have blown a speaker. Does it come from all speakers or just a certain one?

If it is coming from every speaker you can atleast narrow down the source as the deck. I would pull it and look for obvious issues like loose wires and gremlin nests.

There is feedback somewhere since you can hear it when the radio is off. I had bought a knock-off iPhone charger and whenever it was plugged in it introduced feedback.

Does it change with engine speed? If yes, you have a serious ground loop issue.

-Also check your engine and battery ground straps to make sure they are tight and not corroded.

Have you changed to non-resistor spark plugs or spark plug wires? These can cause your symptoms.

I've had this happen before, still trying to trace it down. For me it only happens during cold weather.

Also had that one issue where sound completely stopped working. Had to disconnect the main harness from the amp in the rear and reconnect it in order for the sound to come back.

I've also had this problem, only during cold weather. My crackling only comes from the tweeters, and only when it is playing CDs. With the radio on, no crackling. It will crackle for no more than 10 seconds, then go back to normal...then repeats.

I thought I was crazy having this problem... Apparently it's more common than I thought... I'm thinking in my case it could be the iPod adapter... Mine crackles with just the stereo powered up not necessarily with music playing

Thats not sarcasm.

Its all speakers. It actually stopped doing it now. It only did for 2 days. I didnt have the rear defrost on at any point so I think it was just the deck screwing around with me.

Crackled real hard the other day and then sound completely stopped working. Hasnt worked in about 2 weeks now. Driving around with headphones in makes me feel really hood rat like.

Where is the amp in the back that you disconnected harness from?

The amp is in the trunk, drivers side I believe. There are other components scattered throughout the car. My sound went out completely, but my head unit functioned as it should. Ended up being a loose fuse, in the box under the back seat.

Mine was just loose. I pulled it, inspected it, and re-installed it. I then went further into my "troubleshooting"...never touched another plug/fuse, just inspected connections. When I left, sound was back on.

I thought I was going crazy when I hit the brakes and heard a noise through the speakers! I didn't want to post asking about it since I thought everyone would point to a brake issue. It seems to only happen when it's cold out and the first stop or two. Is there a diagram of grounds? Or where at least the "body grounds" are located? As anyone gotten a dealer to get them a new light assembly? Whats different about it? Probably on infinite backorder. And good luck getting a tech to replicate such an infrequent occurrence and when completely cold start...that only happens for a split second.
