Just picked up my 05 CTS-V last week. Car has 81k miles and is super clean. Car was previously owned by a 65 year old man and was stock down to the paper filter besides a set of Kooks tips. He traded in the car for an 11 CTS-V.

Already made a DIY CAI, still wanting to get rid of the stock intake tube. "pic below"

Replaced stock resonator with a x-pipe and deleted the mufflers. So far happy with the exhaust tone, but beginning of the year I'm hoping to install a set of Kooks lt with cats, so might be putting some mufflers back in place.

My car is making the famous rear end whine, but so far it's not to bad. Ordering my BMR bushings and pinion brace this weekend along with CS motor mounts, trans mounts, and diff bushing.

Also planing on installing a Katech or UUC shifter, but haven't decided which one I'm going to pick just yet.

Any thoughts or pointers will be greatly appreciated.

 

With the whine I'd hold off on buying some parts unless you already have a diff for when it goes boom

Thats a hot air intake! Id hate to see your IAT's in traffic! It needs to be seperated from the engine bay and seal against the hood.

But nice car! and welcome. Hope you have disposable income, as modding is an expensive hobby! Looking at 4k+ for the rear fix alone!

 

Don't think its worth going ahead and bracing everything up? The whine wasn't there when I got the car. Did a few 1st-2nd shifts with wheel hop and now the slight whine. Only can hear the whine when in a low rpm higher gear and the windows up and radio off.

 

Yeah, I'm looking to buy a Lingenfelter kit, but I had that filter laying around the garage, so figured why not.

So you also think it's not worth getting all the rear end bracing and bushings if it already is whining? Don't really have the funds for any expensive modding.

Traded in my 6.0 powerstroke for this car that I spent 11k for a new motor, hpop, injectors, and more jsut for my trans to go out.

 

Great looking car ( looks just like mine)! Put the stock intake back in. It is a good design and isolates the intake air from the engine bay. You're probably losing HP as-is.

Reallywishing someone could give me some advise on the rear diff. I don't plan on making huge power with the car as it's my DD. I know the motor mounts are shot and plan on replacing them new week.

 

Nice V. Could have bought mine that has everything already done. Prepare to be nickel and dimed with these common V1 issues.

 

Don't stress the rear end, I have 130k on my stock diff putting down well over 400 rwhp and haven't had any issues. All of these diffs whine, just brace it up, don't launch the **** out of it, and avoid wheelhop and you'll be just fine.

 

Planing on G-force anti wheel-hop axle kit, BMR bushing kit, BMR pinion support brace, CS diff bushing, CS trans mount, and CS motor mounts because I know my stock one are shot "leaking on both sides"

Along with a fluid change. Hopefully this will prolong the life of the rear end!?

 

Honestly most of the guys here drive their V's really hard; avoid hopping and hard launches and I doubt you'll have any problems with it. I love my '04 despite its weaknesses.

I would go with the RevShift Motor Mounts and Diff Bushing rather than Creative Steel as well as their Cradle Bushings rather than the BMR bushings. https://www.revshift.com/shop/cts-v.php

The Creative steel diff bushing (what I have currently but planning on trading to RevShift) is a serious PITA to install.

 

Drive it how you like... And if and when the diff blows up replace it with something stronger like the CS kit... Then continue to drive it how you like... No point in owning this car to granny it around

 

Anyone else have preferance on the CS vs RevShift bushings and mounts?

 

There's a grip of threads both on here and Cadillac Forums, do a search and you should lot's of input on people's experiences with both.

 

I have no gripes with my CS stuff. Has held up just fine and served their purpose well. Great customer service.
