I see you are using the stock valve covers as well, I had to spend a few hours gutting out the inside of the covers as the rockers (YT 1.7) would hit the cover when valve opens. (tested using test springs). I couldnt justify the 400+ for 1/2 taller covers.

Strange some people have said they fit fine? I have a set of thicker valve cover gaskets from YT, they should give me the clearance I need.

Currently in the process of ordering push rods. What brand, type and diameter did you choose?

I have read about the thicker gaskets... I just decided to gut them.

Pushrods are the Hi-TECH Comps and ended up going with 7.700" for the intakes and 7.650" for the exhaust, giving a 0.085 preload on the intake and 0.60 on the exhaust. (using LS7 lifters) it was a balancing act on the lengths and preloads, unless I went custom length, but tried to go with something provided locally.
Required 0.105 if I remember (have measured pics somewhere) shims on the rockers for a centered wipe. Hence the smacking the valve covers, with the one 0.048 shim provided by Yella, they didnt hit the cover, but the wipe was towards the intake manifold and wider.

Summary: Stock valve covers/gasket - YT rollers 1.7 WILL FIT with no shim for sure.

Why the extra preload on the intake, because of forced induction?
I worked mine out with .060 preload, maybe I should bump up the intake?

Did you go 3/8" or 5/16"?

I actually came up under stock pr length with my set up @ .060 preload.
Guage lenth with preload came to 7.362
so I could either go 7.350 for .048 preload
or 7.375 for .073 preload (which was what I was thinking) for both intake and exhaust.
That's with Morel lifters.

The preload- as I mentioned is just based on Comps available sizes in that range, they dont have 0.025 increments at those lengths, some say even 0.080 is fine as LS7 is 0.12something have the exact number at home.
5/16. perhaps should have went 3/8? will they clear the AFR? I thought i read somewhere they will not. I dont plan on revving over 6400, D1 is slightly over max impeller.

I prefer to have lower on the exhaust due to over time, the seats are pounded harder exhaust changing the valve stem height higher through the head increasing preload.

In the end, ideally, one would get custom length for the desired preload. Im 'cheaping' out in this department.

I shot Tony Mamo a message about 3/8" push rods, hopefully he'll get back to me. I'll see what he's got as far as lengths, not sure what he carries.
Locally I'm not sure what I would find, they'd probably just end up ordering them anyway, so I'd be in the same boat.

3/8”, 0.080” wall.. is probably ideal if they can fit... you can probably get 11/32" to work if anything.
which means, if tony says 3/8" will work, I probably want to change them out... fak. . keep me informed on Tonys thoughts.

Will do, if I don't hear from him soon though I might just call Manton and get a set of 11/32, which I think you can get in a 0.135" wall.
I have read that 3/8 will work in a double taper with AFR heads.

Yeah TM verified 3/8 won't fit, but 11/32 w/0.135 will.

Lol it's an edelbrock, no deal aside from its pulley being huge. Had my wp go out on me last year, thought I'd try something different. Doesn't fit to well in the engine bay. But my rad is lowered and moved forward a bit so I have just enough room for it. Hindsight I could have just saved some cash and got a stock replacement .

This is the spacer that I used when I did my rebuild, it is a beautiful piece and fits perfectly. Had it for a few months absolutely no leaks

Not sure yet, I know the lower manifold is going to be a limiting factor, but I have plans on making my own manifold with intercooler. My main concern is getting her running. We shall soon find out.

My fuel rails were looking beat, so I got them powder coated too, matching my valve covers.
