Default 05 v MOST ANNOYING DOOR CHIME IN THE WORLD

Does anyone know how to turn the door chime off in a v1? the thing is literally so loud I can hear it inside my house with the car in the driveway. I cant count on both hands the number of times I've wanted to remove the damn speakers (at least it sounds like it comes from the speakers) bc the chime annoys the EFF out of me. Would at the very least be nice to turn it down. Any help greatly appreciated, until I am 90 and cant hear anymore, this is totally unacceptable.

I have felt that way about seat belt chimes but never the door? Why do you have the door open so long to where it annoys you?

I'm looking for a way to get rid of this as well, sucks cleaning your car and listening to music with a constant chime going.

This, or working on it, while I was installing my gauges, and mostly when I turn the car off and let the scavenge pump run, sometimes I'll open the door and let the pump run for a sec (key on) before exiting the car and the damn chime is blaring in my ears. I just want it gone there's no reason for it.

Yeah if I remember correctly, there is a setting for 'enhanced' chime sounds. If you turn it off it will sound different and less loud.

F'n GM and their annoying great ideas...

Why can't we disable the Auto Door Lock feature as well? Though it wouldn't bother me so much if the dorrs UNlocked when I set the parking brake(Car still running).

Safety is great, but at least give the owner the choice to turn these things off if they so choose.

You do have a choice. That can be controlled with the DIC, too.

great info guys, much appreciated. I can build engines, port cylinder heads, fab turbo kits and what have you, but when it come to electronics I'm full retard lol

while on the subject of the dic, how do you set the greeting on the dic when you turn the ignition on? I spent about 2 hours when I first bought the car trying to figure out how to make it stop reading "start your engine chris", My name is NOT chris! lol needless to say i couldnt figure it out, and have learned to deal with it haha, but while the topic is at hand does anyone have any instructions for dummies on how to write a new greeting in the dic?

I'm not going to sit here and tell you you're wrong, but I think you can only control the unlock feature when you shut the engine off.

I'll doublecheck again tonight.

You can change that in the personalization menu. The auto door lock as well.
Main button will get you there.
To change greeting:
Main button/feature programming/personalization.
To change auto door lock:
Main button/feature programming/door lock options

The big problem is that GM just didn't let the doors unlock when you pull the handle. I miss that feature on my thunderbird... I like to open my door when backing into an end spot and it is PITA to have to hit unlock first.

More pics of gauge pods? look good. hows visibility of gas gauge? haha

Ps. You like your car hot! 80* on HVAC controls, yikes, especially since its 63* outside. I never turn my up over 72* with the heated seats on.

haha well i havent driven it today and it was about 45 last night lol and the pic throws it out of proportion but in the drivers seat you can see around them to see the fuel and coolant temp guage easily. I made the pod as compact as possible to minimize obstruction of view as best I could. here are more pics:

Hahaha.... yeah, you can turn it down. It was one of the first things I did to my V when I got it from the PO. There's lots of personalization settings.
