Default Headlight bulb replacement ONLY

Bought a set of bulbs. D1S.

I am hoping these just plug in.

Question is, is there a way to get to replace just the bulbs WITHOUT removing the front bumper?

Nope. Even knowing exactly what to do, I couldn't do it without removing the headlights. Fortunately, removing the bumper is much easier than it sounds.

Incredibly stupid. Fortunately, a practiced CTS-V owner can remove their bumper in less than 10 minutes after the front wheels are off. If this is your first time, I'd allocate 45 minutes. The headlights can be scary the first time you remove them--they take quite the yank to disengage the ball joint on the outside upper corner.

I just did the whole light swap last weekend. Went ahead and knocked out new D1S bulbs, color matched high-beam halogens (worthless, imho), the LED parking lights mentioned above, and a DDM fog light kit since I was planning to take the whole thing apart to get to the low-beams anyways.

I also went ahead and plasti-dipped the grill since the bumper was off and sanded refinished the headlights off the car too.

The entire process for everything listed above took 5 hours or so loafing my way through it, using my iPhone to look at the removal FAQ, and listening to football on the radio.

Getting the bumper off isn't difficult but it is a bit tedious...probably took me 1.5 hours to get it off the first time but when I had to re-do something after I got it back together it took 15 minutes tops to get it off the 2nd time once I knew where all the fasteners/bolts were. Make sure you have a deep socket for the body bolts and a long-ish extension...makes all of the difference in the world.

Fogs I did with the bumper on.

While getting the front end repainted I did the corners with the LEDs. Thinking with the projector it would be clsoe to matching. SOOOO wrong. Now ill be taking the bumper off to do this. Also plan on wiring up a set of G8GT horns(much louder and manlier than the V ones which I cant hear while driving).

I got the 6000K bulb and I hate the color. The light output sucks.
