Sending off for wrap maintenance repair and receramic coating, new 3m ceramic tint, new leather, new carpet, adding peel and seal for noise and heat blocking, alcantara headliner and pillars/sail panels being done also.

Hopefully a week or so, then off to drain and flush the coolant system and refilling with G13+ as it's much better than dex. I had run G13+ for 2 years before a water pump failure, had that done at the dealership and they refilled with dex and the car ran hotter at 100c vs 90c. Back to g13+ for me.

Then oil change and hopefully the summer won't be so bad in Abu Dhabi with the added heat blocking and refreshed tint.

Default So close to running

So close to having V up and running. Just have to finish up the Fast102 install and route the dual catch cans. Very curious to see what the new intake and bigger cam gets me on yhe dyno.

The Dewitts rad is the 8th radiator for this car And better be the last. Seems like great quality and install was easy.

Running the oem fan and a lower temp thermostat. Hoping increased capacity helps chill down the temps.

Got some updated pics from MK1 Dubai.

Super excited to get it back in hand in a few days.

The border between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is closed at the moment until Tuesday, so I wasn't able to get any pics in person yet. They are reassembling everything tomorrow afternoon. It's gonna be a new car when finished.

New tint, new carpet, new leather, new alcantara headliner and pillars and sound proofing.

Gonna be awesome.

-Byron

Peel and seal butyl rubber for sound and thermal insulation. It's not going to be a huge reduction in sound, but should block the heat off the road.

Default Almost back to life

V is almost ready for a start after way too long messing with the cam swap, pushrods, header gaskets, gas pedal sensor, steering postion sensor, and install Fast 102. This is officially the deepest I have been in a motor without a pro chaperone nearby.

Sold her...tough call to make as i wasnt truly thinking of ever selling her, but off she went. First time I had ever heard my car driven by someone other than me. Will still lurk around, probably searching for another V1 at some point...its been fun boys

It's all back together again. Waiting on the tint.

Abu Dhabi to Dubai border is closed another week, so stuck in a **** box rental again.

I'm going to get new leather seats from Lseat on the interwebs and use plastic dye to make the trim pieces inside dark grey. Depending on how that comes out, I'll be matching the visors to that.

Super happy with the results, and I'm super excited to get it back next Tuesday if they reopen the border.

Turn up the brightness a bit to see the new interior better, it's a little dark in the video. They will be sending me a better video after the tinting is complete. Don't mind the seats that look like ***. Hopefully my order will arrive end of next month. Doing black leather, black alcantara, blue piping and blue stitches which will tie up the interior nicely.

Default Seats and wheels

Scored a nice set of oe v wheels that are 8/10 for cheap. Have the old front seats out ready to swap.

Next is the seat covera for fresh oe covers, clean headliner bits, swap in freah sail panels, and put her back together.

Tires are on order and won’t arrive till it’s at the tuner. Have to love a dyno tuning seasion on snow tires...

Motor is done and sounds nasty. Perfect seat covers are swapped over. New wheels have fresh toms sensors installed and ready for a tire delivery Friday. Uhaul trailer is booked to take it to On3 for tuning Saturday... Going to farm out the ac recharge and oil to a buddy’s shop close by.

Decided to take this sucker out to a local meet tonight with a few of my buddies and was able to get some pulls in with a few different cars (S197 5.0, 5th gen SS, a couple of Q50s). This is my daily so I never really beat on it enough to notice, but man after tonight I have to agree with the masses that the stock shifter sucks! It's fine just tooling around like I do 99% of the time- but it is horrible when you are trying to bang through the gears. The car definitely performs nicely and holds it own, but I believe I missed 4th to 5th every run which was so frustrating when I was out in front I have been procrastinating on getting my Creative Steel installed but after tonight it has to happen.

Default Dropped her off for a tune

Managed to get V’s new wheels and tires mounted before loading her up on the trailer.

Thankfully an uneventful trip north behind the 4runner.

And all the hotrod bits are nicely tucked away sleeper style.

Got another 1 week delay due to the border between Abu Dhabi and Dubai remaining closed for Covid 19.

Since it's still at the shop I'm having them paint the wheels Cadillac grey.

-Byron

Just an example, not my wheels.

That sucks that the covid closures are slowing things down for you. I’m going to be super jealous of the interior as I was just excited to have perfect oem seat covers.

The new seat covers are ordered from a place in the states, Lseat.com. I'm doing black leather with alcantara insert, blue piping and blue stitches. They should be here end of next month.

Sucks until I can get them swapped though because the leather in the video looks like hammered *** compared to the rest of the interior.

I'm thinking of doing a dark grey on the plastic bits rather than black them out. I'm also looking forward to seeing the newly painted wheels as the ones I'm replacing them with I'm thinking of doing the same color or if it doesn't look right, I'll do a midnight blue metallic on the new set.

Rolled 152,000 miles just a couple miles from home yesterday after driving to/from Shenandoah Natl Park, including some time on Skyline Drive. Fun road, even with my very, very nervous gf in the passenger seat. Had to keep it pretty tame.
