Two-parter:

I bought my V with some awful chrome wheels on it. I got a set of factory wheels sans tires and TPMS to replace them with.

Part 1: What tires are you guys using for daily driving? Right now I'm kind of stuck between a high performance tire and a summer tire. I drive a lot (60 mile round trip each day), and I also don't want something so sticky I have to worry about blowing up my diff when I play, but at the same time I don't want something that just spins whenever I get on an on ramp.

Part 2: Looking at TPMS sensors, is there a big difference out there between sensors? Some I'm seeing say they can use the OE "learn" process, while some need a programming tool. Others don't list which they use, how can I tell the difference?

Any of the summer tires will do you well in Arizona there. I run Conti DWS06, an all-season, cause they still hold all the power, handle well including in the cold spring and fall, and ride comfortably. Mileage is unknown as I only have about 8k on them but they look good so far. Michelins are great but I had really poor wear on the A/S3 - I only got 16-17k out of a set with a perfect alignment, and I hear the PSS is about the same. They also rode really firm, continentals make the commute much smoother.

For dailies, I am having great results with the little Sumi HTRZ III. I suspect I probably get 80% of a Mich PSS for about half the money. The ultimate grip is modest but super predictable and progressive when they begin to let go and the mileage is actually quite decent. Wet grip is surprisingly respectable too. I've got 12-15k on them (have to look at my notebook) and they are not quite half worn, including a nice aggressive Hill Country drive. Rotating every 6k, aligning every 12k. Not my first choice, I admit, but a good one for my needs at the moment. Will buy again if need be on the next go round.

I've got about 40k on a set of Continental ExtremeContant DW. I will be replacing with the same. Moderately quiet until the end. Good looks. Good traction, dry and wet. Fairly priced.

I had the DW's on another car I had and I loved them. What size are you running? I either can't find them in the 245/45R18, or they seem to have been discontinued.

I'm running BFG Comp-2 A/S 245/45/18 on all corners. I generally only run Nittos but availability issues put me on the BFGs. I have been VERY pleased with these tires. They have a pretty aggressive tread pattern with great wet weather traction and still quiet when cruising.

Discount Tire has Conti DW in 245/45/18. I'm going with BFG g-Force Sport Comp2, though.

Running the same tires and love them. I usually run just the sport comps or mt's but this car takes a lot of road trips out of the desert. Had nittos on it when I bought the car. They lasted a matter of days before ditched them

Though they seem to have fallen out of favor, I've had great luck with the Hankook Ventus Evo2 in a staggered set. I screw around a lot and get about 9000 miles out of the 275/40/18 rears and double that on the stock 245 fronts. I can get a set of four delivered for around $700. The dry traction is really good, wet traction is also good, they are quiet, and they wear evenly. I wanted to buy a set of Sport Cup's for more grip, but at $1200ish, it wasn't worth the price to me.

Nitto 555's. they seem to wear pretty good so far and they have enough tread that the car isn't completely out of control in a rain shower.

255/40 would work, as long as they're a square setup you should be fine. They're just a slightly shorter sidewall. I wonder if they just ran out of 245/45 since it's such a common size.

I run 245/35 R19 front 285/30R19 rear Perelli Pzero.

Great tires but I will go with another tire next set probably Bridgestone Re040 or similar, I hear good things about the Firestone pole position also.

As for sensors, I've been through 2 sets of Orange brand sensors. They all have failed. At some point I will swap in OEM sensors. Mine are in forget mode and read --- which seems to be just fine as my traction control works so I'm unconcerned.

I saw your post. I checked Discount's site and the size wasn't listed there. However, I don't doubt that if you called them they could make it happen. They seem to have changed their site recently, and I wouldn't call it an improvement.

What about the FIRESTONE FIREHAWK INDY 500? Looks like a good performance summer tire and pretty cheap. I read online it's a Brigstone RE003.

^^^ I was going to suggest those. I have a set, unfortunately I didn't get a ton of mileage on them before one of my wheels cracked, so now they're sitting in the basement.

There was some discussion of the new Indy 500 / RE003s in this thread. Maybe wes8398 will chime in with how his have been treating him. I never provided any feedback in that thread because I probably only got about 1000mi before having the wheel problem.

Tire Rack test had the Indy 500s scoring slightly better overall than the BFG Comp-2s, and they're $10/tire cheaper right now.
