why spend the money on the whole rear if you can fix the wheelhop with axles for the same price and have axles capable of over 800rwhp

In previous vehicles (including IRS vettes) through the years, the wheel hop problem was suspension, but after reading through a majority of this thread, I'm led to believe it is not suspension at all. Just so I am clear on this issue, the wheel hop problem is due to the half shafts and NOT suspension components?
BTW, rand49er, a little more info (including source) on the half shafts in your pic? Thanks!

We only offer the 9" at our shop in Baton Rouge. We dont ship it in a kit form. We are also raising the price on the complete units.

Didn't you just build a new unit for a guy up here in NJ. I was curious to see if any pictures of that will be posted.
He should get the car tubbed-out for 325's, since it is dual turbo'd.
Everyone is waiting to view that set-up.

does that imply you have a less complete unit? If so, what does it come with?

8k for a rear.......what are people thinking dropping 8k on a freakin rear end for a 4000 lb cadillac. I also dont see how there is literally no competition to building a rear for the V's, its you or none basically.

If you don't want to get bent over them, then don't ******* buy it. I'm sure that he's not even making that much money on these rear ends, even at $8000.

You don't see how there is no competition? There is only a handful of these cars even on the road. Of those there are probably quiet a few that will never see a mod or even get driven that hard. Of the ones that do, probably only 1% care about going to the dragstrip. Most are all about road racing (which is what the car was made for) and the stock rear does just fine there.

post edited maybe i was a tad harsh. i just dont see much improvement in track times with the 8k rear over a upgraded diff and axles.

Actually, no. The CTSV rear end conversion is no longer available through Madman & Co. Racing. Due to the rising cost of component parts and low demand, it is not feasible for us to accept these jobs any longer, so our CTSV conversion has been discontinued.

If the rear in the V was reliable, I would be driving one right now.

It's a shame GM f@cked us on the rear on the V....AGAIN.
I say again because GM did the SAME thing to us with the rear in the 4th Gen Fbody which was made of glass.

Funny, GM finally releases the G8 with a reliable drivetrain, and then some idiots over there decides to charge a ridiculous premium for the manual transmission and then kill the car completely.

I will NOT buy the Camaro because it is just a G8 with all the interior and trunk space removed that has poor visibility.

Hmm, good news...so far. A LS2 V will be my next car and and im contemplating what a real fix for this be. I have also seen that most failures happen at the case, why doesnt someone create a girdle or some type of cover that just reinforces the whole case(vendors chime in)?

2 guys have grenaded their diffs after the new axles...why, you ask...the axles prevent wheelhop, but do not take away any of the previous punishment the diff casing has gone through prior to the axle install.

You want a pretty stout fix, here it is:

1) New GM Generation 3-style Getrag diff ($1300 for entire part including casing and internals)

2) Install some anti-wheelhop axles (GForce, Hendrix Engineering, etc. - $500) immediately with the brand new diff so that you never induce wheelhop in the car. Although, you will still have to be careful in the rain, as nothing can stop wheelhop in those conditions.

For $1800 you have, in my opinion, a setup that should hold up to about 450 rwHP all day long.
