Would it be easy to codevelop a cheaper version of the diff which could handle, say, 500whp without any wheel hop or reliability issues? Just trying to help your bottom line here

I'm going to let one of my customers with a CTS-V read this. He broke a few rears when the car was stock

PS, he's a maniac on the street

I know how everyone feels. I don't like the fact that I have to resort to a very expensive alternative because cadillac is to incompetent to make the factory diff worthy of the Vs performance. Isn't it irritating when no matter what mods you have on the V or how much power your making, we just can't seem to break out of the 12s in the 1/4mi. I don't see how you could make much of a lesser version of the rear unless you find cheaper half shafts, but that seems to be the only thing you could downgrade. I have heard of Mallett putting a Dana 44 diff in theirs but they cant break the 12s either. I make over 600rwhp for quite a while and never broke, but looking back it seems that racing it from a high 2nd gear and usually high 3rd gear roll wasn't that hard on the diff. Its just that everyone is trying to launch at a very high rpm and usually comes back broken. Thats very hard on the factory rear in the first place, dumping the clutch instead of feathering it. Lets not forget this is a 4100lb pig at the minimum, and to get something that weights that much to launch off a t56 is hard on everything.

The bottem line is that it sucks that a very expensive alternative is the only solution. Very soon when the final product is complete, it will be well worth the cost and wait for something that took alot of R&D to produce by an amazing chassis builder and engineer.

We all know stock diffs =

no rambles, just truth in your words.

I know it sucks but i would rather have a rear that i can forget about it and move to big, better things.... warhawk anyone?

My only concern, which really isnt a concern but another one of my nit-picks, is the added, if any, noise or vibration one might get, again if any, with this kind of swap. I understand that there is some trade-off's one must endure, and that a little dynomat won't fix.

I really dont mind a small trade of but not a rattle box or like it the springs have been removed.....though i know this wont be the case...i guess im just expressing some of my thoughts.

Anyways, lets see her run!!! 1000rwhp is right around what im looking for!!
buhahahahaha!! Those new ET canted heads, warhawk block sure looks good with this kind of driveline!!

I broke my rearend at the Los Angeles County Raceway trying to launch. The dealer gave me the new STS rearend which is supposed to handle over 460hp but I still get wheel hop and am reluctant to race it again. I know that Madman is still working on his project but in the meantime has anyone ever considered putting on traction bars to help reduce the wheelhop issue? Can this even be done?

Is there a CTS-V club in So-Cal? I don't know of anyone who owns a V.

My father broke the diff on his V during his very first run at the strip, I think that tops it all.

Curious about the STS rear end installed in your V...have you got a part number from the service invoice you could share?

I wasn 't aware that they would bolt up in a CTS...

Well, unsure if the 06 diff is the same as the one in the STS-V...

But this is the part number for the "improved" version: 15793756 Carrier Assembly (complete)-rear differential

any updates?

Let say, for the time being, i have seen a few owners that are over the 500-600rwhp mark. It would seem that the stock rear, though it has its limitations, can hold up to a significant amount of power over stock.

Given, what or how much abuse are ya'll throwing at these rears that are pushing this much power and still maintain the rear for doing a silveradoSS500?!

No powershifting? No track time? etc...

The rear diff will handle quite a bit of power just from a very high 2nd to 3rd gear roll.

I'm only pushing 370whp right now, im hoping for over 400 with my cam next week, but I will be honest, I beat the **** out of my V, I try to stay calm but its just way to much fun racing the **** out of it and driving it at a road course at motorsport ranch. I am always raging my V, honesty thats why I bought it a fast fun car! I am constantly teaching people how to drive better and i use my car as my demo... My 05 has almost 30,000 miles... Where are ya'll at???
