Hey there, anybody had to replace their brake rotors yet? I've got an 04 V with 20k on the original brakes. The rotors are wearing down (normal) and now there's a noticible lip at the outter edge. The stock replacements aren't horribly expensive but I'd like to upgrade. I found these by Red Devil Brakes: http://www.reddevilbrakes.com/page/page/1001014.htm. They're titanium with a ceramic coating, despite the cost they also cut 30lbs of unsprung weight!!

I put the "brembo" crossdrilled rotors on. I ordered them through the dealership and I think they are stock rotors that have been crossdrilled! The weren't cheap and i think it makes a tiny difference in braking!

Damn straight Florian!! That's about what I paid for rotors AND calipers for my GTO, the only reason I can see buying them is that they never wear out (just recoat), reducing that much unsprung weight is like adding HP. I drove a C5 vette with them and it was like someone popped a drag chute or threw out an anchor when I stood on the brakes, AMAZING!

Every pound of unsprung weight is like removing 4 lbs of regular weight. This is rotating and unsprung weight. Would probably make quite a difference in handling. But $5k is crazy.

only from high speed to avoid brake fade.....but ya I think those are the upgrades everyone is doing....the v's brakes are damn good I dont know how much you could upgrade them, unless you went with a 6 piston caliper

AND IF you go bigger, you need to think about rim issues. I had that problem when i bought my first set of rims. I found a 12 piston kit you could put on there but thats over kill. My driving teacher and I drove the **** out of my V on a track and the street and he was amazed with the brakes. I went as 155 and basically "slammed" on them and I hit 60 fast.

What do you guys think about the stock pads?
I know they can be dusty, but do they stop really well?
Do they need a bit of heat before they really start gripping?
Do they grab immediately or kind of ramp up in strength?
I'd like to swap the front calipers to my 99 F-body and use the 14" Z06 rotors.
