A friend borrowed my cam sensor to see if his was bad, installed mine and said there was nothing wrong with his since it did the same ****, he said it was aextension harness issue on his vette, so i nstalled his since he was too lazy to remove mine and install his and i am assuming that his was actually bad.

Zone, your having the SAME PROBLEM I AM, with the 6012. I have try'd multiple sensors, tested for the signal at the box, checked and double shecked connections/grounds, and STILL have the cam sensor fail code, and intermittent no start/backfire
If you solve the problem let me know! I wont be able to start working on my car again till it warms up and all the snow melts.......maybe mid april......

I have also verified that the msd box is receiving good voltage (more than 11) even during cranking.
I have not try'd swapping the outside wires in the cam sensor harness plug. I have read that this can be a possible solution to the problem.
Good luck

I think I have read about this in another thread somewhere. I think it turned out that the MSD box can be fussy about the voltage drop caused by the starter motor when trying to start the engine. I think they put an extra powerful battery in the car and it solved the problem.

I did not realize you were having problems after it was started. I just picked up on 3 pedals post where he was having problems during start up.
I hate to be captain obvious, but do you have the box grounded to the engine or to the body? If just the body, I would run a ground to the motor too just to be sure it is not a ground issue.

Beotch is running pretty damn good with the new cam sensor:
Well, i swapped sensors and it ran better, but still acted funny, called MSD and they told me to switch the outer wires on the connector since i was NOT running the extension harness that came on the engine, so not it fires perfect as you can see in the video. So, you running the extension harness? If not, cut swap and splice back together the outer wires that go to the cam sensor.
