I am not a carboholic per se, I just did not want to get into error codes, paying tuners and expensive dyno sessions. Instead I can spend the day in the beautiful Florida sun making changes at the track and seeing what happens. That is cheaper and a whole lot more fun than sitting in some tuners dyno shop all day.

Some might think that at 42 I just don't want to learn something new. But, I will share that I was racing and modifying computer controlled cars back in the 80s when the tuned port Vette and Grand National came out. Back then everyone was saying you can't do this and can't do that because it is computer controlled. In true hardcore hotrodder form, I built a 383 stroker Tuned Port Vette that would run 12.50s and a Grand National that would run 12.40s with the factory fuel injection. These ETs are nothing by todays standards, but back then it was magazine worthy results.

Should have broken down to 16-22, because that age are two types, 1: Knows nothing about carbs, 2: Knows nothing about EFI. And i mean nothing.

Most people would say that, at 68, I'm too old to be still playing with cars....but, I still enjoy it, and it gives me something to challenge my mind, and since I'm retired, something to do. I just like working on carbs, but I'm helping a young friend on his 5.3 EFI swap, so I'm also starting to learn a little about the new stuff.

Kind of the same as my situation. I'm 30 doing a carb swap, but my dad who is 61 urged me to go EFI. Go figure...

34 here (for a few more days) and doing a carb'd LY6 swap in my 73 Camaro. Not afraid of EFI at all. I also have a 99 Trans Am that I do all the tuning on myself with HP Tuners. Lots of reasons I'm going carbed on the Camaro......too many to list really, but one main one is just because of the "WTF is that" factor when you open the hood at the track.

I'm 62 and have been out of this race thing for 30 years. Last car was a 67 camero 327 4 speed with a set of 5.13's. Now it's 2006 GMC Sierra RCSB. Started out with the 4.3 very mild cam 202 160 manley valves 2800 stall and a set of 4.11. with a 100 shot of juice. Ran a best of 14.52 @93 mph. Of couse by this time I was rehooked and that wasn't fast enough. Sold the 4.3 and got a 6.0 out of the salvage yard. Through a bunch of problems and going on the second short block build it is carbed with a Pro Systems carb. Waiting for the motor to come back from LME, Houston, Tx. Now it is a .040 over with 11 to 1 CR. 410 Am planing on up to a 250 shot. NEVER TO OLD TO GO FAST...... I hope.

im 22 and am keeping the fbody fuel injected. i have had many carbed projects which had holley carbs, edelbrock and even the new summit carb (made by holley). i have found there is a time and a place for fi and carbed. fi can bring people who might not like cars into the garage with the computer knowledge and might help them leave with a craving for american muscle.

the real question would be who would put a tbi set up or electronic carbed set up on something?

I'll be 56 at the end of the month. My 84 Monte Carlo is carbed, because it's just a hot rod. The 85 I'm working on is staying injected because it will be driven a lot.
