I would run an msd 6010 for your ignition. There really is no reason to do the distributor set up unless you plan on revving it to 8k. Its just that the msd sometimes gets a weak crank signal if you rev past 7500 rpm's a lot. Yes a th400 will bolt up to the 6.0 fine.

If you go to the GMPP online catalog you will be able to find all the part numbers for the LS front distributor set up. You can go through any GM dealer to order once you have your part numbers. I think the distributor route is fairly expensive. Good Luck

For a distributor setup you need a new timing cover, drill and tap the crank snout to install a key way, install gear setup under timing cover and finally but a ford distributor.

If you go with L92/LS3 heads, here's the GMPP intake PN#: ((SQUARE PORT...not cath))
Parts #25534401
L76/L92 4-Barrel Intake Manifold GM Racing design for use on 'as-cast' rectangle port Gen IV cylinder heads As-cast design requires no porting for maximum performance Includes mounting bolts and instructions Uses L92/LS3 carb intake gasket set P/N 19172114 Machined for 4150-style carburetors and has 3/8' NPT vacuum boss Also available with injector bosses P/N 25534416

Note: LSX Ignition Controller P/N 19171130 is required for carbureted applications.

Are you leaving the stock LQ9 compression, heads and cam?

I run the edelbrock box and i turn my 6.0 8250 every saturday night. i have blown up a few due to poor oil drainback at those RPM's but they will take it.
