*3pedals*, have you ever tried one of the "pills" that came with your 6012 box. We had a big discussion with a guy on here awhile back who was running one of the "pills" that, according to MSD's specs in their instructions should have only had something like 23*, but he claimed it showed 32* on his laptop. There is something weird about the "pills that come with the 6012. The ones with the 6010 seem to match their specs, but not so the 6012. Anybody else tried the 6012 "pills" ??

I agree completely with *3pedals*. Don't even think about running 26* on a carbed engine. I can't remember the exact curve in mine, but it kept running better the Quicker I brought it in. I had something like 28* at 800 RPM with 32* at around 1200RPM and finally 34*@ can't remember. You probably ought to stay at 31-32* total until you get some experience with the engine. I still would like to see somebody try one of the "pills" and check it with a laptop.

your just going to have to test, test, test, to find YOUR combo's ideal timing. Then you can set your nitrous tune-up after that.
If you want SAFE for initial startup, just use 1 of the pills, try #4 with 24* it will be safe for motor only. the nitrous tune-up is your baby..........

i was told from the tech guy at msd that the 6012 box has a map default setting of 20 degrees. so if you do not use the map sensor feature then it will add 20 degrees on top of the numbers on the chart.

Don't forget you can set a timing retard when using the nitrous. I would think 6-8 degrees retard depending on the fuel/comp being used.
Did you not read the instructions. Not trying to be a smart ***. Just saying it's all in the instructions. As for the timing curve it's all about YOUR engine combo. When we dyno stuff we start with a mild tune with mild timing and a bit rich. Then work back . As you add timing it leans a motor. Timing is about compression, cam, launch rpm ,vehicle wieght etc, etc.
In the end you have to give the motor what it wants.

I'm going to the shop to-day and I'll try to remember to bring the instructions home to scan and post. I think the vacuum/map sensor only works if hooked up and enabled.
