Default Losing fuel pressure after hot

i have a question about electric fuel pumps/regulators. this is on a first gen block, so im not sure if im posting in the right section. i have a issue with my pump losing pressure after its warm. i have it set ~8 psi but when it gets hot like operating temp, it will drop below 3 psi, then shoot back up to normal again. i noticed this last night after it shut off after a hard pull on the way home. must have ran the bowls dry. its a demon carb btw. now i havent hooked up the return line, is this needed? and if so does anyone have instructions on where/how to do this? i have searched with no success. thanks.

Mechanical? Never used one but for scrap metal.

what are you using for a gauge? one of those 1.5" cheapies? they don't read right after getting hot

If it seems to be running out of fuel, it is probably not the gauge.

Yea, holley blue and the like are fine, any of the name brand pumps for 125-150 out there are generally great.

Check yur float level.... Nothing to do with the pressure but might be why it's running out on top end...
