Was matched up against a fellow LS1tech member "groundczero" on timeslip below.
My combo hasn't changed, 100% stock LQ9 with Holley carb and long tube headers. Reason I was quicker tonight (I think) is because I took the serp belt off for this pass.

Good times. I have done that for years and started out with my (at the time) brand new 82 Mustang gt and have done it on every car I have owned. You will usually see anywhere from 1 to 3 tenths. I watched my friends new GTO go from 12.1 to 11.80 after he finally took the belt off.
GNCLONE, Get a cam in that thing and you will be well into the 11s.

I pulled over on the return road and put the belt on, temp gauge jumped up to 190 and when I turned the fans on, it was back at 165

Every car is different but I have seen as much as three tenths (my wifes MK8) just by removing the belt.

elec water pump
How does an electric water pump work with accessories? Is there one with a freewheeling pulley?
As for the belt, my alternator bearings are slowly going, my P/S pump just seems to whine all the time and neither like to spin. I wanted to know what removing the belt would do, and I picked up almost a tenth!

Last summer, I was on the highway, doing 70+ and my plastic P/S pulley disintegrated, literally just flung itself apart. Needless to say the serp belt was gone then too. I got off the interstate and found a decent place to park but by the time I did the motor was HOT HOT HOT. I let it cool down for a few hours and then drove it home (10 more minutes). Anyway, it didn't hurt it, still runs fine.
Sooooooo - that was my thinking behind running it at WOT for 12 seconds with no belt.
