Default New Carbed & Sprayed 440LSX - Build Thread

Well Im beginning to gather parts for my new engine build.

Current 408 Iron block went a 5.37@132... I needed to find about 3tenths to be competitve in Ultra Street.

The new engine is being built around these...

No need to go that high....

General Combo
43X" LSX Block (leaving room for a cyl hone in future)
Custom Diamond Pistons w/gas porting, anodized and coated
GRP or BME Aluminum Rods
Callies Magnum Crank
Mozez Heads - titanium and inconel valves
Custom Solid Roller Cam
Mast 2pc Intake
ProSystems 4500 carb
Induction Solutions single stage plate kit

Not positive how Im going to attack the distributor, but will be running the new MSD PowerGrid ignition

All chassis work will be done by Rhodes Custom Auto.
-update to 25.5 cage
-some interior tin work
-fender exit custom headers
-lexan front windshield - and re-boxing the cowl/firewall area

My goal is to be able to run low 5's on the old MT Drag Radial

Any reason you are not going to run the SV1 carb?

Looking at your username from 2003 and then the times in your signature, I bet you have learned a lot about LS motors over the last 9 years.

Mast LS3 Medium Bore 6 bolts. They ran well and had more potential. If I had more time on the old engine, I think it might have gone mid 5.20's but thats just not enough.

Ive owned the car since Nov 27th 2001. By 2002/2003 it was running 12.40's. Still currently holding the Stock Internal M6 record with an 11.49 (2006).

In 2007 I made the jump turning the car into a race car. Initial plans were add a th400 and a carb to the stock engine.... that changed MANY times, got the car done at the end of 2011 with a 383 carb/dist. combo. Hurt that the first time out testing in 2012 and built the 408 that went 5.37.

awesome list of parts.

but I have read some weird issue's with the power grid. IDK for sure, just reading through things.

and I am more of a EFI guy, guess I am in the wrong section LOL

Good luck on ultra street, wish I had the money to get into some good racing like that! Love watching that x275 stuff!!
