video says it's private so I can't view it, but it looks like ya got the Ls2 set? I just put this same timing set on my LQ9 and have plenty of slack but from what i've read this is normal. But I did install the TRickflow Ls2 dampener bracket for insurance...

I've put brand new ones on that are just as loose as the one I'm replacing.

If it is new, let it ride.

My apologies guys, didnt know my phone had it set to private...FIXED!!

Ok this is the stock chain that was on my engine...btw this engine already had the ls7 style lifters in it, the pistons has stock fly cuts in them also...lifters look good and cam looks good...i will post some pics of that stuff when i get to work, driving now, and also i found a GRADE 10.8 culprit thats been rolling around in my engine this whole time sitting inside my heads on top of the valves....there was that ticking noise, fml lucky me to not have it go pass the valves and into the chambers....

That chain is sloppy. Get a replacement LS2 chain.

Well i got a buddy here who had 2 brand new ls2 chains and he brought those over....and they both had the same amount of slack...we marked the block with a marker for all 3 test...turned the engine around and at every mark it had the same exact slack....at certain point it gets a lil tight at the same points....the teeth on both gears look brand new..this it's just crazy...so idk what gives...we've tried everything..

Looks OK to me... Mine was like that and I compaired it with about 3 different chains on the timing set and they all had the same amount of slack.

That ammount of factory chain slop is what led me to buy a comp cams (RE: cloyes hex a just). Plus its adjustable. Cost around $150 IIRC. Eric L

Looks a tad much, but the sock one On mine was close to that. Bought a new cloyes one and it was worse. Put the stocker back on. If its new I wouldnt worry about it, even though to me it was annoying too.

Thanks guys, I haven't put my timing cover back on yet because I've tried different chains on here from guys here who have LS engines and these darn chains SUCK...Only reason I haven't put my timing cover back on. I was thinking of just putting a LS2 dampner in there since my block is drilled already for it. What do you think about that?? Im just ready to drive this thing already. Bought me some all thread for the balancer install and this chain I really dont like how it looks. Got to a point where a couple of guys and I removed their own balancer and timing cover to check if slack was in their chains and they also had slack, not as much but they had it. But im not taking this oil pump off anymore and once I get the LS2 dampner 2mar then I plan on cranking it up also 2mar!

It came out of a later model 2004 truck. And yes those are stock. Truck was a buddy of mine bought brand new in summer 04. He kept it around, wasnt driving it much at all since he was always off shore and bought a 2500HD so he wrecked the truck and we pulled the engine. Around 5k miles a year or so on the truck, we junked and parted out the truck with 42k miles on it. Sat the engine in my other buddies shop where its been sitting since 2011. I gave a couple of dollars for it and now i have it. There were NO problems with it prior to taking it out nor were there any the 2k miles I have put on it since I've had it..WELL except for that damn screw thats been playing around it in but caused NO damage.
