L-33 carb'd build up (lots of pics inside) Well I finally picked up my very first LS engine.
Drove 300 miles to get it since it was near the same town my in laws live in.
Unloaded it yesterday and removed a few things.
Here she is:
There is an article in the Super Chevy in 2011 where they did a Carbed LS1 that pushed 462 HP. Stock bottom end, cam, heads, and carb.

Thats my goal to build up the L33 the same and have some fun.
Any helpfully hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.
ETA: this will be going into my 1962 Chevy Bel Air.

I just carbed an L33 and since I didn't have the cash for an aftermarket cam I just threw in a stock corvette cam which gave me some extra duration and lift...with an edelbrock performer intake, Holley 750, and stock manifolds with x pipe and flowmaster the car hauls ***! It makes bangin gears in my 4 speed manual tons of fun! It blows up the 14" wheels I have lol...good choice in motor, the 10:1 compression, ls6 heads, and all aluminum construction are a real advantage! Pm me if you need any help!
) with the off shelf edelbrock 2216 cam has been a dang good running engine for 160k mile salvage engine. Probably making just over 400 fwhp and it sounds fantastic.

Definitely nice results...what's the engine code on the trailblazer? Is it ly6 or something...most of the aluminum 5.3 I have seen had flat tops..
I'm anxious to see what swapping cast iron v6 and auto trans to an all aluminum v8/4 speed will do for my curb weight..I'm thinking at least 150+lbs

Decided to start getting her ready to take to the machine shop hopefully next week so I removed a bunch of stuff and cleaned it up a little bit.
Looks much nicer now.
Yesterday I placed my order for a Camaro/Firebird full oil pan assembly, Texas Speed 2.5 head/cam package, and the Edelbrock RPM intake & MSD 6010.
All those goodies should be here next week.

@wild: yes 106K miles.
Just going to do rings/bearings and ARP rod bolts/main bolts.
Probably light hone on the cylinders.
That should be the only bottom end stuff done other than a complete cleaning & check over of parts.
ETA: new F-body oil pan showed up today.

New Carb intake for the L-33 (LS1) & MSD 6010 ignition system to run it.
New Texas Speed PRC 2.5 CnC'd heads.
Texas Speed box full of goodies for the build up also.
Just had to set the new intake on the ol'long block for some pics.
Waiting for cam & crank pulley then off to the maching shop.

Nice choice in camshaft...that's the tried and true LS cam and you can't go wrong with that! Ill def be looking forward to seeing you car on the dyno (hopefully) to see what she's got...I haven't seen any L33s carbed dyno numbers, this engine isn't one of the most common in the LS family...

I have that cam in my iron 5.3. I like the sound of it and it still produces about 11 inches of vac. Have you considered spray in the future? The dual plane was a difficult decision for me because of nitrous later on down the road.

I do not intend to spray this engine, no need to honestly.
I received my cam (updated link in previous post with correct specs), valve covers, & lower underdrive pulley today.
