Default Gunna run at the track

Im posting this here because the people here weigh in more seriously and are more carb knowledged thab randoms in the bench race section. Move it if ya have to but I'm lookin for some carb guys opinion!

I'm finally ready enough to run at the track I think. I gotta finish my caltracs this week and I'm gunna run on Saturday at our 1/8th for a few test hits and a run. I'm not lookin for a good time, more or less just a mph. My truck made 400 on a dyno dynamics dyno (prolly closer to 455 on a Dyno jet) with rich jetting and low timing and weighs in at 3000 with me and 36 gallons of gas in the tank (I put a big tank in expecting horrible mileage, turns out I get 25 ish goin 55 down the highway lol). I'm on a street tire due to my stock rear end. I've got 3.73's and a 3400-3600 stall in a th400. Few questions.

Will I break 100 mph in the 1/8th (my record is 101 on a stock 07 zx6r) or will my rear end puke its **** all over first lol. I've got no cage so I won't get too wild before I get kicked but I've also got a 100 shot installed that I can use if I wanna be guaranteed to get kicked off the track lol.

Weigh in and let me know what you all with experience here think. Any hints and tricks to get a higher powered lower traction vehicle at the track to move would be nice. I will be posting gopro vids on Sunday after I get home. I have race at this track a little over 50 times but never in a vehicle with this much power.

My dads 406 SBC s10 ran 10.60's with Caltracs and a mini spool and 4.10's in the stock rearend with slicks for 3 years before it quit. We were surprised, it lasted that long. I think it would be fine, with nitrous I'm not sure haha.

That's around mid to high 6's in the 1/8th then right? How was the 60'? Mine is welded up and stock so idk how it's gunna like it. The street handles it fine and I get traction with a full tank in all of second gear I've never tried 1st haha. I'm thinkin ill roll into it untill it shifts to 2nd and hold it thro the end. We will see.

Mine is just under 3000 and making the power you are. With a 1.62 60 foot and no spin on the converter being too tight, I went 7.0 past week right at 100 mph. Assuming you can 60 foot better and have slicks, I think you can beak 100 mph. As is, on radials, if you are like me, your gonna have a bad night. I cannot 60 foot on street radials at all. It is a waste of my time since I cannot get the WOT stab I need to launch.

That's bummin me out. I'm on a street tire, not even a radial. I got a set of radials but they're short and narrow. I guess we will see how it picks up.... Better than expecting what I can't reach. Gives me reason to build my rear finally haha

I personally wouldn't waste my time or money even attempting to run a LSX engine vehicle though the quarter WITHOUT SLICKS or DRAG RADIALS, LET ALONE A S/10. Don't worry about the rear end. The only way to tell how strong it is... Is try and break the damn thing. I have been 11.70 @ 117 with a N/A 406 SBC... 7.5 26 spline rear in a 3400 lb Monte Carlo SS with a powertraxx locker. Never did break it.... Sold it to a kid that did burnouts with drag radials everywhere and he eventually broke the ring and pinion 6 months later doing a wheelhop filled burnout on a concrete bridge.

Get sticky tires and go for it.

It's a lq9 engine with ls3 heads. Victor jr, bigger pro systems carb, medium cam (234/250 .621/.629 112+4) and 1-7/8 lt headers. That's really it for performance.

I've got a small drag radial I can mount on some rims but I worry they're too short

You should have me covered of you can get it to hook. You have more flow and probably better compression.

Stick the short drag radials on there and go for it. That will be the only hope you will have at getting close to your goal. You should be able to get the MPH you are looking for with traction. My 72 Camaro with a stock LS3 except for a tiny cam ,intake ,and restrictive exhaust went 93 mph w 3.42 gears and a TIGHT stock GN D5 converter that was coming apart at a 3475lbs race weight.
You have more cam, stall, gear and less LBS. 100mph is a no brainer with traction, as long as the tune is on, IMO.

I ran 105mph with 1.57 60ft. Car would blow the tires off at the hit. My car weighs about the same as you, little more, but i have 4.10 gears. Pretty much the same setup, except cam. In fact, my first pass ever after the swap was a spinning, fuel starved crappy 6.97 @ 101 mph. It should be easy to go 100mph in a 3k truck.

Youe gonna need some stickier tires. i have a time hooking mine on a iffy track on 275 drag radials. I have gotten a best of 1.41 60ft and a worst of 1.67. I would try and find some kind of radials or slicks, even wore out are better than your street tires.

I'm just gunna go and get a idea of what I née to do next. I've got a friend bringin some big radials and I've got the small radials too.

Test hits, lol, I'm meanin not mashing it from the start. Workin into it and gettin out of it at half track just to get familiar with it. No sense in stayin in it f your still blowin the tires off 100+ feet out I say.

The 225/50/15 are drag radials but they're pretty short and narrow. I think they will be better than my street tire. And my friend ha. Set of drag radials on a set of 20" wheels. Not ideal either. If I can show a good pickup between half track and the finish I will be happier and kinda feel more pleased with the build. I've got alot of time into this thing and it better show. I've got. 8.8 here but it needs some parts and some time and it will be in. Then nice et streets and wheels are on the way. Paint too! Thanks guys for all the help and information I've gotten from this site!

Id just stage slightly over idle and just roll into the gas quickly with those little radials. BFG drag radials are not in the elite group of racing radials, but if you get them toasty hot, they should stick with a roll in.

Well update. They won't let me run without a battery disconnect since my battery has been re located to the bed of the truck. I'm not willing to put a bunch of money time and effort into installing race only parts to run a test and tune one time. I don't see how they expect people to stop racin in the streets and move it to the track and then set up a bunch of race only required rules for street cars. I'm pretty upset, I know it's a safety rule but come on, really. I always knew of the rule but assumed it was meant for vehicles with the battery in the car, like a trunk, not separated from the driver completely like outside of the vehicle in a bed. .
