upping to 7400 rpm shift points next outing. will keep everyone posted. the one pass i held 3-4 out to 7200 was this last pass. was rewarded with 3 mph in the 1/8 and 1 mph in the quarter. will also bring high side down from 7800 to 7500 to start leaning into no-lift-shifts

I love RPM. Thinking I am just going to rev the **** out of my stock bottom end. Worst thing that can happen is it blows up

I think a lot of people especially this website forget that HP is a function of RPM and lift. You can't just make up power with cubes, cylinder head flow and duration.

You can to a point, but sooner or later you will hit a wall.

The two easiest ways I have found to make huge power is lift and RPM.

I also used to rev my SBE to 7400rpm. Even on a .93 jet.

Sweet Martin! That's what I was thinking 7400, went 10.86 cam only limiter at 7. So with some more suspension tuning and rpm I think I can get 10.6s. Matt more RPM!!!

. . . . . . . . . . . I just need to ruminate on that one for a bit. May have to put that quote in my signature. That is pure awesomeness. LS FTW!

haha, nope. working on getting my hands on a new set of 3054ST's and a set of tubes. also going to get the 2-step working again. once on the larger tire, i'll be leaving off the floor again to see what we can really do. gonna slap my noisy set of 4.56's in to keep gearing roughly the same. coupled with 7400 rpm shift points and a few other weight loss mods, i'm thinking 9.99 ain't that far out of reach. i don' want the additional safety equipment though so i'll dial it back just a little to keep from having issues.

shifting still needs work. listening to the coyote stock guys, i know i got work to do yet, lol!

Nice, I am still using the garage at my old place that I rent to my dad since it has no center divider, the house I'm in now has one so I cannot center a vehicle.

And btw, for those that don't know, Matt is really doing what he can for a crate class to allow manual Trans and what not if memory serves right. The rules are really limiting allot of guys from even wanting to run the class and guys like Matt are trying to make their voices heard so it can be a class that sticks around and grows. It is a automatic class only from what I saw.

i've basically given up on the sealed crate engine class. the guys are making it sound like any manual transmission will cause interest to be focused on the transmission instead of the engine. i don't see how talk of converter/automatic transmission will be any different. it's a sealed crate engine, lol. all the engines in the cars are the same, so any "edge" one has over another is going to be based on some other factor, thus taking focus off the engine anyway.

That is rich boy stuff anyway. Those classes are supposed to be to control cost and all it does is end up with people spending tons on their driveline and chassis trying to get an edge.

I race in the junkyard engine class. LOL No special bolts needed. Your speed is limited by your wallet.

i like what i've got going here anyway. to make the change would be a big hassle and i'd like to see just how far i can go with this combo now. eventually, i will add a few more bars into the car and pursue an even larger mill. i've been thinking a lot lately about a 39x" ls3 based motor.

Stroking up huh? I think I'll keep an eye out for a LS2 block, do a forged lower end, square ports and spin it to 8000 NA. See how fast it will go at 600 HP or so, then spray it with a little kit.

You combo is doing better and better Matt, glad to see your making gains instead of sitting at a wall.

That's why I said ls2 block, lol. At 2700 pounds chassis, 2600 sounds better!
