Miller locker will probably happen for now.

If I want an AR right now I'll get a 650$ m&p15 and keep my welder. Lol

You think I spent 200$ for a rear to spend 250 on a differential? Lol

Thanks for looking out, I'll throw a used unit in there when I find one for next to nothing.

Maybe, but bear in mind, the unit shown is 100% BRAND NEW, not rebuilt, and is also the exact same diff used on the 03/04 cobra mustangs which belted out 400+ HP and stick shifts from Ford..

So they are definitely up to the task you are looking to put them through.

Yea, but a used carrier and that cobra sclutch kit for 40$ would set me ahead of that. I would have just pieced one together from a open 3.55 or whatever I found if that was the case.

Got somewhere, the cluster is going to be pretty nice I think:

Painted it wrinkle black, it is curing right now so more pics to come. My wife band will be here this week and it will be in the empty hole.

Got another 3.73 limited slip rear, swapped the carrier into my 4.10 non LSD rear and the brakes will go on soon.

Put the open diff in the 3.73 rear after I welded it up, so I'll sell that as a welded 3.73 rear for a hundo.

Got some of the engine bolted together and the carb installed after I rebuilt it yesterday:

Here is how the wheels sit before I get the 8.8 in that is 4 inches wider:

That's all for now, hope to have the rear in tomorrow, I need some diff fluid and some dot 4 brake fluid, as well as a fitting to adapt the ford fitting to the brakes to the Chevy fitting.

What would it cost to ship that rear end to 72455?

I need you do something for me when you pull that rear out of the S-10 and before you put the explorer rear into it.

Measure the outside of the axle tubes on both rear ends, and the length of the tubes on each side where they stop at the housing.

I have done a bit of checking and the 7.5 28 spline rear in an s-10 is the exact same axle size as a 28 spline mustang/explorer axle. Which could mean nothing more than swapping axles and tubes from the 7.5 to the 8.8 center section if they are close enough to fit in and weld up. That way you don't have to buy different wheels or have any axles re-drilled for the Chevy pattern.

Already threw the rear in tonight, didn't get on here till now after getting stuff done. Here is some update, and the gauges are equis from the autoparts, they are cheap but work.

Moving right along. I think I couldn't be happier with the gauge cluster:

The rear is about 5 inches wider by my measurements, so I'll be lookin for a 15x8 with a 6.5 BS. They stick out a touch with the 5.5 BS. But it will work for now.

The fit after slotting the mounting pad in .3" and outward on the lower mount made it like stock.

Got the plugs and wires on and the ignition is wired up. Need my tach and wide band. The trailblazer belt length was still too big, going to have to buy a couple smaller and see which works best.

Got the old shifter hole closed up with some camaro sheet metal from the roof of my 89 RS, which will be covered by a cup holder that the auto parts has. Will be nice to have.

Got plenty left to do but it is all down hill from here.

Going to need to take about 1" off the drive shaft.

Did you actually have to cut/reweld the leaf spring pads? Or how did you do that setup? Did you get any pictures? What about the axle having an offset differential?

Damn it, totally had taking pics of that in mind, you have to elongate the hole in the mounting bad that is welded on the diff to the inside about 1/4 inch, I went .3" just to be safe and it sat on the springs like factory.

The lower u bolt pads I elongated outward all 4 ways about 1/2 inch and they worked perfect.

The drive shaft will be off set to the passenger side a bit with the axle difference but that's it. Nothing that the explorers don't do every day.

If anyone wants to know what progress sounds like, it's something like this:

Sounds good so far! Now it is officially down hill from here.

Just buttoned it up and drive the **** out of it.

I need to tune the carb still but I got her idling like a champ. Will have the wife band hooked up when the exhaust goes on tomorrow.

Used a method to bleed the clutch from a s10 swap forum and it is like driving the camaro again. Clutch is flawless. The small pulley for the power steering is clearly a issue at idle but not a big deal. I'll see what I can do later about it should it be a problem I get tired of.

The brakes must need to be bled, because they are on the border of sucks. So I'll handle that some time probably Friday.

And, for the beating, mother of wheel hop. Cannot wait to get my caltracs made up. So bad. But she moves. I stab it and she goes straight to LOL at the 6000 rev limiter I set at its previous life without a cam. Nailed 1-4, at 6000, I was at 110 mph with the 235/60/15s. The GPS speedo functions fantastic.

So, pics and videos tomorrow fellas.

Turns out it didn't lower the truck much. Kinds sucks. If I can get some better shocks on the front to kill the bounce I'll lower it.

Yeah, that wheel hop is an absolute bitch!! I broke to corners on a mini-spool because of wheel hop on mine when I just had my bone stock 5.3 on street tires.. But with slicks at the track, it would just squat and haul my fat ***!!

Gonna be making some traction bars for mine as well if I have any issues at all with wheel hop.
