Nice kill. What were the details on the victim? Might give you an idea of where this animal sits quarter mile wise. Eric L

That's dang respectable for a baby LS!! The power these engines make is crazy. Just for an interesting point of reference, I have an older (couple years) Super Chevy mag I was just reading yesterday where they tested the 1970 LS6 Chevelle with a TH400 trans on the rollers. This is the mack daddy 450 HP 454 Chevelle that put the period on the muscle car era before the Government said we had to slow this roll down. The car is bone stock, just like it rolled off the floor in 1970. On the chassis dyno it laid down 276 HP and 312 TQ !!
Zanes baby LS with a small cam just matched it ! We don't know how good we have it, boys. Sounds like a 12 sec ride to me.

Here ya go fellas:

And here is the 312 HP run:

Very very pleased. Couldn't be happier with any of it. Now imagine if I went to the full length 1 3/4 headers with a x pipe, bigger cam, bigger carb and intake, I think it would jump to closer on the 380 area.

Drives great on the rain as well.

LOL!! The dyno rollers haven't even cooled down and we are talking bigger cam, zoomie headers, head work, ETC, ETC. You have a sickness and I think its terminal . I just read an article in Super Chevy where they compared a 4.8 and a 5.3 with the exact same parts on the short block. The 5.3 made about 45 more HP and the same increase on TQ. Im sure a jump to a 6.0 would give a bigger increase over the 5.3 than it had over the 4.8.
just crazy the power we have laying around in junk yards these days.
When you going to the track?

He will head to the track after he gets his wheel hop issue fixed. I know for a fact that the wheel hop of these is actually quite damaging.. I broke 6 of the 8 corners completely off a mini-spool, and number 7 was significantly cracked. I only had to give it a small twist and it fell off.

Leaf springs? Its easy to do away with hop, get some caltracs or slide-a-links. An old school set of traction bars will do the trick too. Or you can be a tight wad like me and just clamp the leafs together between the axle and the front eye. I even cut an old leaf the length of the front half of the leaf pack and clamped it to the front half. Any of those will fix the wrap up. The caltracs or slide-a-links are the way to go, IF you want the wrap up cure to help plant the tires too, and traction bars will do to, just not as well.
Anyone have a set laying around that will fit a second gen Camaro ( cals or slides) Im looking for a set for my ride right now.( had to throw that in, LOL).

Yea, I don't have anything better to do than watch yall build them, LOL. Im dealing with traction issues with my Camaro and the tech should cross over on the rear traction stuff with the rear leaf suspension.

Can you keep track of the cost and let me know? Or better yet make me a set at the same time? I will pay for them, obviously..

Stewart, I'll let you know if I get them made and installed this week for next Friday. Might take a break from working on anything for a week or maybe not.

Ed, I will be making my setup weld in. Don't think I could replicate without being about to weld to the vehicle. I'll take plenty of pics.

Good, pics good! Im thinking about making a set for myself. Problem is, I don't weld well, LOL. Zane, are you going to use some sort of bar that's drilled and threaded, with eyes on the ends to thread in and out to adjust the preload? I see 4 link kits that have the threaded arms, or links. I wonder if some one sells just the links, so they can be cut to the right length? Beyond that, all we need to do is fab some brackets for the front eye end and the springs lower plate. I don't think it would be hard at all to do, IF I can find the threaded links and end eyes. Fab the brackets so they have multiple holes to experiment with instant center location. From what I have seen, that's all the caltracs are. I just don't know if the slide-a-link setup would be better as far as spring bind goes. They are set up to slide in the link, so the spring can articulate in corners. Im still looking for a used set, but if you have a source for the threaded links , let me know and I might build my own too.

I am going to make them adjustable and try to keep them high enough not to worry about them getting snagged driving anywhere and on trailers.

Zone, I am more concerned with getting a pair of adjustable bars. I can get the stuff for the frame and axle that the bars would slide into and become the mounting points...
