Default 4.30 gears in 03 silverado

Tired of posting this in the axle section and not getting replies so ima come here for some input. I have an 03 silverado ecsb stock 4.8 a4 I was wanting to know how 4.30s wud so here. Thinkin one day of a cam and bolt ons and around a 4k stall but how much of an improvement on a stock truck wud 4.30s make over stock 3.42s

Thanks

Ethan

Massive improvement on acceleration but hurt MPG. Will tow easier as well.

Agreed

It's entirely possible though that depending on the OP's driving habits and tire wheel combo that mpg decreases may be minimal

i have Zero issues with my 4.11 gears in my 05 sierra 4WD, ecsb with a 5.3, and 35" tires, if you are at a stock tire size id try and stay around 4.11, wouldnt really see a need for 4.30's, thats just my opinion though

I'm on stock tires which I believe are 30" rite? Has any one used the stock carrier with hi ratio gears?

according to who?

ive had the 4.11's in the truck for over 6 years now with no issues, 13mpg around town and 17+ on the highway.

if i were to go up to a 38" tire id definitly go with a taller gear, but 35's are perfectly fine with the 4.11's

Any body have an idea why my silverado I'm posting about here used to be able to do huge power brakes and burnouts and now it'll barely spin and it feels like an anemic v6?
