Default How many DD their carbd swaps?

Well im at this decision again. I have a complete lq4 with the matching harness, fuse block and computer.

I wont be doing a wire re work myself and i honestly dont want to pay for one either or for one thats already done.

This is going in a 73 camaro that will get driven daily. I mean to work, store, 3 hour trip here and there. Literally everywhere.

Just wondering if anybody does the same with their swap and am wondering if i should go carbd or stay efi.

I probably have daily drive my carbed setups more than anyone I know. Only complaint is cold starts in winter, and if that was a real problem that bothered me I would get a carb with a choke on it.

Daily driving a carbed setup is better than letting it sit as well.

The minimum I drive my camaro and half ton LS swaps was 50 miles a day once upon a time. Never a issue.

My 94 GMC was a stock TBI fuel pump with bypass return regulator, same on my 92 s10, the mustang is a aeromotive street and strip with bypass and same on the camaro, the Trans am is a Holley blue dead head that I also had on my camaro, same Holley blue I have installed on many a carb setup. But beware, I used to have no failures from holleys until the last 4-5 years. So I started shying away from them. They for whatever reason are not what they used to be.

So what would you suggest fuel system wise?

I think a Holley black might be worth giving a shot since they are alchohol compatible, the ethanol may be what kills the regular holleys.

If you have a home computer you can do the initial setup that way. Or just use the pills that come with the MSD box, but IMHO they aren't any where near optimal.

If you have a 12 volt automotive battery and a friend with a computer you can hook up the power and ground wire and bench flash the box. Eric L

A red will work fine. And the pills supplied with the ignition will operate the engine till you can put a real tune on it.

Thats good to know. I never knew what "pills" were till now but they come with it? And a 750 or 850 cfm carb? I read the other day ls motors respond very well to 850. Just unsure if itd be to big but 750s are a lot easier to come by/cheaper.

Not sure, I know I'm the number one guy that I know of that drives the hell out of my carbed rides.

And the 200$ new is great, but if you went new for anything, the above mentioned is the at to go!

How do you think people got to work before fuel injection? People have been daily driving carbs for years. Other than being a little fussy on cold start their fine. Eric L

I would love to DD mine.... but no way with the 4.10's and I 95 traffic 6-7 days a week....then throw in the rain/snow/heat (no AC)....not to mention my truck gets 20-22mpg, has AC, ABS, 4x4, and power everything.

That's kinda where I'm at with mine. It's not the motor that makes the car a bear to drive every day, it's the chassis and ground clearance that makes it unpractical.
