Thanks, hadn't seen those before.....all the vette coil covers I'd seen are the big gaudy looking ones. The 2014 trucks have some similar looking ones that aren't bad, but I thought those you had looked different.

These will be for sale soon likely.

that thing whooped my ***, but i think i'm good to go now. 4.56s in the big case and in the car. ended up having to get 4 new bearings, all of which i did not budget for >.< oh well, lol. pretty sure i'm ready to roll for this weekend.

We are gonna try and run 1 more time this year, after that, probably pull the motor apart and do some changes so I can get this thing to run maybe. Just dont know if I want to add more compression or not.....I said I was gonna do all that last year, just glad I didnt, cause now I got some cheap stuff to upgrade. Buddy has 10k in his sbf, runs 5.60s, he says no sbc can run with him dollar for dollar. I think if I had another 8k to drop on mine, he might be surprised. LOL

anyone made a tubular core support before? I made one in my s10 and used the front body mount bushings. Planning on building one for the regal this winter, all the aftermarket ones seem to be solid mounted to the front frame rails though. Thoughts?

What's going on guys? I haven't been around here for a little while so speedtigger suggested I post up in here and show you guys at least one of the things that's been keeping me busy.
Ever since I moved into this house two years ago I've been wanting to improve my garage. I don't have enough flat ground around here to build the shop I'd like to have, so I'm working with what I've got. Luckily I'm starting with an attached three-car garage with reasonably high ceilings (10.5 ft).
The plan was to paint the bare drywall, install better lighting (used to just have three 4-foot florescent lights for the whole garage), build a more sturdy and larger bench, improve my overall storage, install some form of heat/AC, add a better (larger) compressor and install a two-post lift.
I've barely scratched the surface of my plans, but here are a few pics of my progress so far. Here's an older shot of the garage. Unpainted walls and ceiling, small rickety 8ft bench against the far right wall.
Since the lift will go in the left stall, I had to take down the conventional garage door opener and install a jackshaft mounted one. Then I painted the ceiling, ran the wiring for three additional lights along the front of the garage and then installed the six new 8ft lights.
Here everything is pushed to the center in preparation for painting the walls.
And here it is after paint. The idea was to brighten things with some white at the top but keep the bottom a darker color that hopefully won't show the grime quite as easy. I also placed the black stripe at a height where I would normally place my hand on the wall while kicking off my shoes to go into the house.
I picked up these cabinets and track wall stuff at sears. The cabinets are a little pricey but I got them on sale and since they're so well built I figure they'll last forever. I kinda like the track wall stuff because I can hang other accessories on it later, like maybe a shelf at the top for my stereo. My new bench will be along this back wall on the right side of the garage and will span 18ft.
The next step will be to build the new bench. Then I'll probably move on to addressing the heat/AC. I'm planning on buying a ductless split heat pump system; most likely a Mitsubishi unit based on the advice of a friend that installs this stuff for a living. But if any of you guys have experience with this stuff, I'd love to hear your advice. The garage is 726 square feet but with the high ceilings and the fact that I'll be pulling in cars with hot engines, my friend recommended I go with something in the 22,000 to 24,000 btu range.
The lift I plan on getting is a Bendpak XPR-9. It's designed for low ceiling applications and it's posts are only 9.5 ft high and have the cable and hydraulic line crossover between the posts on the floor instead of overhead. I'll be able to lift both of my cars to full height but my truck will be limited to only 4ft high. I figure that's good enough to allow me to change oil and rotate tires on a creeper seat......much better than lying on my back.

Thanks. I have a buddy that just built a 50x50 with an attic and another buddy who bought a place last year that already had a 40x60. We just installed his lift last month. I'm just doing what I can to keep up with those guys.

I'd love to have that kind of garage, or the land to build a detached shop. i'm working in an oversized 2 car garage and it's packed with my projects. I've already told the wife that when we upgrade, if the houses she likes dont have a minimum 4 car garage dont even pass it to me for consideration.
