I like the work you've done to the car, I just don't like the motor. Sometimes trying to do something different can go too far. If I were looking to do something different but along the same lines as your idea I would've went with an 1000+hp turbo Ecotec. You'd still have people bashing it, but maybe not as many.
#62
The bashing has only coming because you quoted a horsepower that your DYNO didn't back up. On this site along with most car enthusiast's when they say a horse power they usually mean WHP. Everyone on here knows that car makers don't go around quoting real wheel hp. But under your logic of using your estimated flywheel hp, every stock ls1 owner on here could be claiming in the 340-360hp range stock without a single mod.. The build up is nice, not my style but next time quote the dyno results not what the estimated flywheel hp is.

HOLY COW!!! 1000+hp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never seen a small block or big block make that much power NA or FI; not to mention that sexy, sexy sound of the 2jz...
Wait...
That car just seems like a joke, it undoubtedly sounds goofy and probably cost significantly more then a BBC or SBC build, not to mention the utter lack of torque and awesome turbo lag.
I understand it was just a display of what you guys can do, but why do it?
2jz swaps really aren't that uncommon now, anymore than an LSX swap. Yeah you put it into a first gen, but it seems pointless and no more difficult then a 2jz swap into a 240 (not that either is easy per say, just that it's definitely been done before).
As for the power its making, just ask the 2jz nut swinger SC300 if 800 to the wheels is a big achievement (I don't think it's too shabby, but that's nothing for a 2jz, right ).
I think you should ditch the 2jz and just put something with decent torque under the hood, everything else has been done before.
Hell if you really want to do something that's out there, then build an AWD first gen using an LSX motor (not an rb26dett).

Oh wait, my bad. That came out in 92, so we should compare it to a Supra 2.5 gt... LOL
All this being said, I like the supra (though I like f-bodies more).
I just wouldn't put a 2jz into an f-body anymore then I'd put a small block chevy in a Supra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2PjM...eature=related
Oops...
Hey, partial throttle running 10's at 130+ isn't bad.

Not here to argue, just wanted to point out that the '69 Camaro you posted is not even a street car, street body, has a wheelie bar etc. I believe the Supras run 7s in stock trim, suspension and all. Maybe find a street Camaro thats faster than a 7 second Supra if you want to do a even comparison.

Including a '92 TT 300zx, '94 fd rx7, my 92 Galant VR4, a 99 camaro, and now I figure I'll buy one of the greatest, most legendary sports cars ever made...
Good luck with your really fast celica though (honestly)...
I really hope you don't think a 2jz is better then a SBC or BBC down the quarter mile though.
I don't know what you guys are arguing here...
The supra and 2jz aren't the greatest at anything; no car, motor, or stock car/motor combo is.
The 2jz can't even touch SBCs and BBCs in power or in the 1/4 (regardless of what the motor is in).
The supra isn't exactly the ideal tack car either (Z06>supra on the track anyday).
The only thing the supra is best for, from what I'm seeing here, is building off the stock platform without having to mess with the 2jz's internals or modifying the frame and chassis. But what's the point? You can see clearly that a car that does mess with the chassis/frame and swapping motors will dominate on the track, 1/4 mile, and in top speed (see John Rain's 298mph bonneville trans am).
As for the texas mile, I have no clue buddy. I really don't care about it and I've never heard of this 250mph supra you keep raving on about, as I've never looked into it...
I do know you don't own it, so the fact that you seem to love it so much actually makes me feel bad for you.
You seem to want the fastest car you can get your hands on, what's so special about your supra? What did you build it for? Is it the fastest or best car at this?
If you built it for the 1/4 then I hope your deep into the 7's just to touch the dozens of mustangs and f-bodies you can see at the NMCA.
I've got nothing against you, I just can't agree that the supra/2jz (or any car for that matter) is the best at anything.
Personally, I only care about the 1/4 mile, bonneville, and closed circuit track racing. Of which, the supra dominates in... none.
Sorry...
P.S, you never adressed my second post (post number 70)

If I wanted to build the quickest thing out there and enjoy it on the street (which is why I imagine people build supras), then I'd build something like THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji83ZSXB8_c

^^^thats funny. on a serious note this is LS1tech not 2jzqm35whatever tech. so GTFO. to the op the work looks top notch, just an odd combo for this crowd and the fact that we mostly quote only wheel hp numbers made it a disaster waiting to happen.
